Before we hear serious talk about Palin being removed from the ticket and replaced by someone else?

We'll probably hear talk in the media about it, but its not going to happen. Removing her would be suicide for McCain...basically admitting that he can't even do THAT right. So he has to stick with her for better or for worse. Besides, McCain's camp is saying that they already knew all of these things that are coming out about Palin. And believe it or not, many Republicans were thrilled with this pick because she's ultra conservative.

..actually, I can see Palin wanting to drop out due to "serious" family issues. I can see that happening too - and that would be the wording I would expect. Dropping out to concentrate on family issues.

I don't think Paulin will be removed or resign from the ticket. This has already proven to be a circus in a matter of days. LOL. That would just create more ridiculous and unnecessary drama and cause the McCain camp to look UTTERLY foolish (as if they already don't).

Her leaving the campaign for any reason other than her being deathly sick (would have to see her in hospital bed with no hair on her head) would be a debacle for the RNC and they wont have it. Its hard enough for them to try to get behind this ticket and actually push to get them elected but for her to go through this only to drop would be suicide for her.

I don't think she will drop. Unfortunately, for them they have to ride this one out. If McCain drops her or even if she resigns, that will reflect upon McCain's judgment. He'll have to take the Bush approach and stick with this decision just like the Iraq War.
She has too many issues. Conspiracy or not, left-wing or not, they all bear weight in this campaign, because NO ONE knows who she is, so every miniscule trivial issue has to be investigated...They have to answer the questions whether valid or not.
"You have a blue painted toenail in this picture, but now you wear purple nail polish...What does that mean? Is there significance to that?"
I was being really facetious with those example questions. However, just like Obama had to explain the Rev. Wright, Ayers and Rezco relationships (even though some might say he dodged some of them), the issue saw daylight, and he directly addressed them. This has to be done. It's like a lie detector test.
The GOP will attempt to do all of this and ride sister girl out, holding out still for a major gaffe by the Obama campaign. The media spin, reaction from American people and reaction from their support base will tell the story of how well they do.

I agree with those of you who say she won't be removed. She won't resign because she won't acknowledge that her teenage daughter's pregnancy is an "issue". You can't say that you have the best judgement (versus the other candidate) and then recant a decision this important.

Well I'll just say this - if he's going to cut her loose - now is the time to do it - before he accepts the nomination. As hard as it might be to do right now - if he goes any further downstream with this, he'll be stuck with it.

He can maybe hope that there is a fight on the convention floor. And THEY place someone on the ticket. At that point he can say that his hands were tied.

Dude I think Romeny or Pawlenty is getting on the ticket. For real. I don't know why - it just seems like he is taking an unnecessary bruising with her on the tickete (but I do understand what others are saying - that with a decision this big and with him claiming to have fully vetted her - that he is going to take a whooping if he does reverse himself).
Even a floor fight would be politically damaging. It would make him look weak and not in control of his own party.

They are probably the only 2 people enjoying this more that Obama and Biden (I know what Obama said publicly, but y'all know he is somewhere laughing his a$$ off). He can't put anyone else on the ticket now, he has to ride this out with her. Didn't you all hear him call her his soul mate? She is his soul mate, you don't just dump your soul mate because it is convenient...oh wait, he has done that before. When he picked Palin he tried to take the change mantra and use it to apply to him and Palin. He wanted them to be seen as the ticket to bring change and clean up Washington. They are the his/her maverick team. So if he gets Pawlenty or Romney, then what? What is he going to run on then? And then there will be all the questions about what happened to change and fiscal responsibility? Looks like McCain has gotten himself wedged between a rock and a hard place...

I agree - but she is taking her toll on this campaign, she subtracts the experience argument, she has boat loads of unvetted baggage that will be falling out one piece at at time, and THAT will keep McCain off message during a week when he's trying to get some bounce. I think he's gonna come out flat out of his convention.

Why would Pawlenty, Romney, Huckabee, Jindal or Crist want to be added to that ticket now? It appears to be a sinking ship, and if PAlin is dropped...what does THAT say about the ticket? Would YOU want to be a part of that? Especially if you had future political aspirations. What does that say about their judgment if they now accept the VP role after the first pick is dropped? Especially Romney, I know he's pissed, on camera kissing MaCain's ass after that primary campaign...

Damie, you read my mind with this thread.
I think there will be some SERIOUS discussion about her stepping down...either from pressure of the right-wing kooks, or by Palin herself. If not, after those debates they're gonna wish her ass had stepped down!!
McCain no more vetted this woman, than I have trained to be a Russian cosmonaut!
The fact that the repubs are trying to legitimize this woman tells you just how warped they are!! And let's not forget...the investigations into her indictment in Alaska is still going on! There is yet more about this woman that has not been told!!

I don't know now, folks. My Republican coworker who WAS supporting Obama says that now he's undecided. He says McCain's pick proves to him he is willing to "shake things up".

They elected Bush twice because they value winning over anything else. If Palin caused him to continue to drop in the polls...
...they'd 86 her without a moment's hesitation. Absolutely.

I hope you're right but I doubt it. I believe it'll be political suicide to do so at this juncture. Perhaps the Republicans are hoping this "drama" will drum up interest in/for their party because honestly...prior to Paulin being added to the ticket it was a COMPLETE and UTTER snore.

They're getting all the media buzz they can handle right now... it's just not good media buzz.
The more Palin is defined the more HRC supporters will return to the DNC (because the RNC offers them nothing but gimmick dressed in a skirt)

I skipped through a lot of this post, so I don't know if this was addressed or not.
What happens if McCain dies while they are campaigning? Does that mean that she will automatically be moved to the position of President candidate, or will they try and get someone else? It's a legitimate question. He's old as dirt!
