Goes back to the DNC thread to sweat the Obamas* I supposed McCain is "more Christian"....one day ppl will learn that regardless of what ANYONE says, there is little religion in politics. When it gets down to it, the laws of this land will be upheld. So if "his law" = "man's law" then that is correct. Some religious affiliations do not vote at all for this precise reason.

I would agree with that. I think religion and law only come into play with laws for votes for things that conflict with religious or just personal beliefs, like abortion or gay rights. I could be wrong, but I would think that pro-choice gay or people who don't care would vote for people who believed the same thing. And pro-life anti gay would vote for people who supported those stances too. Other than that, I think politics do pretty much their own thing.

OK let me get your position straight denounced. I never see you railing against Bush and Cheney and all the lies, deceptions and plots they have hatched because they are anti-gay marriage and pro choice. What kind of ignorant mess is that. These people took the country to war under false pretenses...they knew there were no WMDs in Iraq!!! AND still sent people to die....That is murder!!! Not only that they lied about it and continue to lie to line their pockets. They claim christianity yet show no evidence of being saved. They pick and choose who to help even when in the position to do good....Go Google the governments response to Katrina. All the while I never here you say anything about this like it hasn't been going on for 8 years!!!!! Where are your rants on this....where are your post standing tall against those who bankrupted this country in the last eight years, drove us into a recession and piddled away a surplus while giving tax breaks to those who ship jobs overseas all the while lying to the american people. I'm sorry you say ignorance is bliss well I holding up a mirror so you get a cleared picture. I used to hold out hope that you had at least modicum of credibility but I'm sorry dude your silence, short sightedness and lack of objectivity leaves me no choice but to deem your views as shotty at best. Wated and Jay can cosign for you all they want but on the real you have you head burried in the sand. Obama and others may not be perfect but we'll find that out as we go along. That being said I don't think they would do what these clowns that have been in power the last 8 years have done to this country and the american people under the guise that they are god fearing Christians. There is no evidence of this if you look at their actions and just because they agree with your two hot button issues doesn't give them a pass on the other stuff that are killing folks and have them suffering everyday. :smh:

This is what I posted in Serious Issues, under "DNC, who else is watching"... denounced... Enough of the the Christians blindly supporting the Republicans. Let me just say it...THEY ARE PLAYING YOU!!!!!!!!! They talk against abortion, but what have they done? They will continue to say that they want to eliminate Roe vs Wade, then why haven't they done it? They can get anything else done that they want. 1.They killed Saddam Hussein and both his kids...yep, went right into a foreign country, dug dude out of the ground and killed him. 2. They got their buddies at Haliburton sweet no bid contracts in Iraq, no matter that soldiers (who are paid a fraction of what these contractors make) are being electrocuted in the poorly construced barracks that Haliburton is in charge of. 3. Uh, lets see what else, oh yeah, they use the Constitution as toilet paper, 4. they hired all of their buddies in the Department of Justice, allow Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and their minions to commit treason by OUTING AN UNDERCOVER CIA AGENT FOR POLITICAL REASONS, 5. and when Congress calls Rove in for a little chat---well scratch that when Congress SUBPOENAS Rove to get to the bottom of his crimes, he claims executive privilege and nothing is done; and why is that 6. See bullet 4!! My theory is that they really don't want to end Roe v Wade, cuz if they did, what would they dangle in front of folks to win elections? If they are not in power, they cannot allow their buddies to pillage the treasury. For the record, I am Pro-Life... I even voted Bush in 2004 (that was hard to admit; but it also explains my almost obsessive study of the political process now and going forward). I realize now that no political party is going to overturn Roe v Wade, for the same reason that no one is really going to close the borders to illegal immigrants; if either party does either of these things, they will lose the womens vote and the hispanic vote respectively from this day forward. The reason most blacks vote Democrat is because the Republicans were on the wrong side of the civil rights issue. They remember that...they are going to keep talking about Roe v Wade to rally their base and reel in Christians who are not looking at the bigger picture. There is more to your Christian walk than just one issue. Look at Katrina. If Bush had access to CNN he would have been able to see the need of those people who were stranded on their rooftops, some for days, were stranded in the dome for days with no food and water...in the United States. They got relief to the Tsunami victims sooner than to the Katrina victims. And in a true depiction of the Marie Antionette suggestion to "let them eat cake"; while New Orleans drowned, Bush and McCain were celebrating McCains birthday 2 states over right outside of Air Force One. Air Force One, the plane that we pay for with our tax dollars was used so that one rich guy could sing happy birthday to another rich guy, while poor black folks died!! I really could go on and on about the many sins of the Bush regime. They claim to be Christians but their actions don't line up with the walk of a true Christian. They will have to give an account to God one day...they will have to give an account to the American people in November...

Its funny we are subjected to how deaf the greeks on here are to what Denounced, Water and Jay say about their orgs. I wonder how receptive Mr Hatchett will be to what you and I say. A radical socialist liberal? And you came to this conclusion how?
I agree you can't vote party lines and you have to look at the candidates stances on all issues. Sadly this country doesn't do that. They vote on hot button issues and thats why we get took. No person will be person and sometimes you have to pic between the lesser of two evils. Now I looked at the people in your link....sadly some of those peoples are just washington retreads that couldn't make it on the major party tickets and others are people who are marginally qualified.

I CANNOT STAND "CHRISTIANS" WHO ARE FOOLED BY THE "faith" VOTE!!! Pure garbage, y'all don't see that they are pimping you for votes because of what you believe in. Minister Hatchett, I am a Christian, just like you, just like many on OOA. Where in the Bible does it say that the person in charge determines whether or not anyone in this country will get into heaven?? You don't determine my salvation just like Obama, Bush, Clintons, McCain or the man on the moon. I am accountable for ME just like you are accountable for you. The law does nothing because no matter what it says, I make my own decisions. If the law says not to have abortions and I choose to do so anyway the last thing that I am worried about as a CHRISTIAN is not the government but what the Lord thinks of me and my actions. The Lord is wrathful but He is a loving God as well. He knows that I know that I am covered NO MATTER WHAT because I have confessed with my mouth and believe in my heart, just like you. The person in charge of this country has many other decisions to make outside of abortions and gay marriage such as the welfare of this country, economics, healthcare, national security, protection of civil liberties etc...(i.e. majority of which the current adminstration hasn't been doing). The Bush/Cheney/McCains could give 2 hamster balls about you/us or how we are managing life right now. There are other candidates but November is too close and the media/society won't give them the time of day needed to gain strong enough a following to gain control of the office. While I am no Bible scholar, Galations 3 gave me comfort in 2004. I was looking for something to give me confirmation that I wasn't crazy for not being moved by Bush/Cheney like many of my Christian brothers and sisters. Although it talks about living under Old testament law and being a believer, I see it as being extremely relevant for us. Pray and let it settle in your spirit. ;D The Lord gave each person a CHOICE as to whether or not we will accept him into our lives. That is the most important decision that anyone can make. Why be someone that feels they can determine anything for anyone else? You can't make them be a Christian or live a Christian life no more than they can make you become an atheist. That's your choice. There are things that you do in your life that are not pleasing to God for no man is without sin. No one determines what you choose to do whether pleasing to God or not. Stop trying to do that to other people. Please stop being so gullible to what these people are feeding you. They have you on a leash. It's not a good look. Cast a true FAITH vote and PRAY before you cast your ballot and find peace and comfort in God that He knows what He is doing. That's a real faith vote. Last thouhgt: You say we shouldn't vote for Obama but why should we vote for McCain?? Outside of hot button topics, what can he provide for us?

Who gets to appoint federal judges should be the #1 issue in 2008 election Submitted by Jim Backlin on March 12, 2008 - 9:11pm. Capitol Notebook Email This Comment If the Republicans really want to keep the White House in their control and even have the possibility of regaining control of Congress, they should make judicial tyranny and the appointment of federal judges by the next president as the most important issue of the 2008 election. Even those on the left in the Democratic Party know that this is the paramount issue since they have virtually shut down voting on President George W. Bush's nominees to the United States Court of Appeals. As of early December, Senate Democrats had approved only 5 of President Bush's nominees to the federal appeals court. The average number of appeals court judges confirmed by the Senate majority when the president is from the opposite party is 17 judges. The Republican majority confirmed 15 of Bill Clinton's nominees to the appeals court, so the Democrat majority in the Senate are way behind even this pace. Besides the fact that the next president could very well name two or more new Supreme Court justices (John Paul Stevens will be 88 years old next month and Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be 75 years old this week,) there are far too many vacancies on the federal bench, especially on the court right below the United States Supreme Court, the federal appeals. court. To review why who gets to appoint federal judges is so important, take a look at these examples of recent judicial tyranny. In September 2005, Federal Judge Lawrence Karlton, appointed by Democrat Jimmy Carter, dictated to the American people that children could no longer recite the Pledge of Allegiance in their schools because of the words "under God" in the pledge. That same week, Judge Denise Hood, appointed by Democrat Bill Clinton ruled that Michigan's ban on the gruesome partial-birth abortion procedure was unconstitutional. And during the next week, Clinton Judge Nanette Laugherty declared that Missouri's pro-life parental consent law was unconstitutional. Some more recent examples include Clinton Judge David Coar last month conspiring with the judicial tyrants on the Illinois State Supreme Court in preventing a 13-year-old parental notification law from being enforced. Judge Sandra Lynch appointed by Bill Clinton ruled last month that parents could not prevent discussion about homosexul "families" in their children's elementary schools including kindergarten classes. There are countless examples of such judicial tyranny in the past couple of decades; indeed, since the most infamous decision in Supreme Court history, the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. It would behoove not only John McCain but Senate and candidates for the House of Representatives, to make judicial tyranny their top issue in the 2008 election. www.cc.org/blog/who_gets_appoint_federal_judges_should_be_1_issue_2008_election

Appointment of judges by Clinton is why our society has become increasingly light in the loafers, bloody and murderous, and kids out of control. To come: Obama's Sermon on the Mount flap and gays. Claims Jesus is promoting gay lifestyle. No, our nation has turned away from God, but that is not the governments responsibility. That responsibility falls square on the shoulders of Christians. The problem is that so many Christians come off as judgemental, rigid and hypocritical. I am a Christian and I think that more than anything people will be drawn to me by my walk, and the way that my faith and belief in God is evident in how I live my life, how I treat people, the values I have instilled in my children, how my children behave. Before I got saved, I had experiences with the Christians whose walk was in direct opposition to the teachings of Christ. I wanted NO part of it. I was drawn to God by this group of Christians at work. They worked hard, they had an inner peace and joy that was almost tangible it was so real, they enjoyed life, they would laugh and talk and praise God and they never talked down to us non believers. I would find myself sitting closer and closer to this group of folks (I worked in a call center and we didn't have assigned seats), then I began to listen to them, then I began to ask them questions; I wanted what they had. As a result of my experience, I realize that it is incumbent on me to exhibit Christian qualities all day, every day. You never know who is watching, and you never know how you will be able to impact another persons life by just walking in God's word and showing that love to your fellow man, no matter where they are in life. I don't believe in abortion, but I realize that the government is not going to end it. For reasons I stated in an earlier post, if the republicans appoint the justices that will end abortion, they will lose the womens vote for generations to come. It is so much more effective to wave Roe v Wade as an election issue, if it ends, what will they run on? What I like about Obama is that he gave up his chance to make 6 figures out of law school and went back to the south side of Chicago to serve the community. He made a fraction of what he would have made. This man was the 1st black president of the Harvard Law Review. He could have written his own ticket in the law community. Didn't Jesus once say to the rich man to give up his riches, pick up his cross and follow Him? Obama is not perfect, but his life mirrors more closely a true example of following the example that Jesus set. You want to end abortion? Go to work in a pregnancy crisis center, you can sort donations, run errands, help raise money, counsel women. If more pro lifers did this type of work, we could make an impact on the number of abortions that are performed in this country. Most women have abortions because they are frightened and alone, these pregnancy crisis centers help fill that gap and walk these frightened women through their decision, and gives them other options. That is the example that Obama has set.

Our nation has not turned from God because i am here and you are here but many have turned from God or have never knew the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. There will always be a remnant of believers who hold up the standard of Holliness and Righteousness . the government ,local, regional , and national have a responsibility to the people. ending slavery was a decision that was made by many people but in the end a civil war was fought and a letter was written by the head of government Abraham Lincoln . Men and women who have real Christian principles in government can and always will make a difference.Just like men and women who have anti Christian principles can and always will make a difference.

You know what? I'm starting to see a pattern. Certain cats spout off...you try to engage them in dialogue and they avoid addressing what you offered up all the while still spouting the same stuff. I mean how hard is it to comment on what you think about the current administration? Its been put out there....it needs to be addressed. Get you head out of the cloud, the ground or your behind and wake up and smell the coffee....you backed the wrong horses and sadly from the sounds of things you are about to again...all on hot button issues which are important but not the A #1 important issues affecting 99% of the people in this country. Quite frankly and you(Denounced) or you (Water) may not care but I'm disappointed in you cats because while I don't always agree with you I thought you had a modicum of substance but its threads like this that prove otherwise. I hate that I wasted brain power and effort in this thread with you guys.

Men and women who have real Christian principles in government can and always will make a difference.Just like men and women who have anti Christian principles can and always will make a difference. Alright, lets talk about this. I stated earlier that I did vote for Bush in 2004, strictly on the abortion rights issue. I have had time since then to really digest what this administration stands for. I don't think Bush, Cheney, Rove and their ilk give a damn about unborn babies. They would climb up a pile of mangled, aborted fetus' if it would elevate them to where they want to go. I don't think they have any real interest in ending abortion, it is a hot button political issue that rallies the passionate republican base, and SOME Christians who fail to look at the bigger picture. So what has this administration done? 1. They lied to the American people and the world, falsified documents and intelligence reports to justify going into a sovereign nation, killing their leader in order to control their oil. That is fact. In doing this, over 4000 american soldiers were killed, more have been disabled and disfigured. Who knows how many Iraqu civilians have been killed. We see occasional pictures of Iraqi children missing limbs, burned by bombs, etc. Are these innocent solders and Iraqi citizens more or less important than aborted fetus'? 2. Gitmo--we are holding people there as political prisoners. Our government took away the right of habeus corpus. I am not a legal scholar, but I understand habeus corpus as basically the right to go before a court and say "it wasn't me". These folks are held for years without any resource to prove whether they are guilty or innocent. And as the icing to the cake, this administration has the nerve to debate about whether or not certain activities are considered torture...sleep deprivation, waterboarding, enacting sexual positions-sometimes homosexual in nature on devout Muslims. What if they are holding some innocent people hostage down there? What if there are some kids waiting for their father to come home, never knowing when or if that will happen? Are these suspected, but not proven terrorists and their families more or less important than aborted fetus'? 3. Hurricane Katrina--George W and John McCain ate cake while New Orleans drowned. The complete lack of regard that this administration showed for those people is appalling. I was watching CNN with tears in my eyes screaming at the TV, "will somebody get down there and get those people off their roofs?" I guess Bush did not have access to CNN. He was busy giving press conferences patting his inept Homeland security director on the back, "Heckuva job Brownie", while at that same moment people were starving and dying in the dome in 100 degree weather. Are the poor New Orleans residents more or less important than aborted fetus'? 4. Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Scooter Libby and George Bush outed an undercover CIA agent and put her life in jeopardy; because her husband dared question their decision to invade Iraq. What if she and her fellow agents had been harmed due to their childish revenge tactics? Are those CIA agents more or less important than aborted fetus'? I could go on and on about the crimes of this administration, but you get the point. I ask that question about the aborted fetus', and it is rhetorical. I don't have the answer. I only know that the republicans have gotten away with so many other crimes against humanity by dangling their pro life rhetoric in our faces. Let us even look at McCain's background. He cheated on his 1st wife with his current wife. When he got back from Vietnam, he immediately started cheating on his first wife. He married Cindy a month after his divorce was final. He has been involved in the Keating 5 scandal, his campaign is run by lobbyists, he is not an honorable man. How can we trust this man as Christians to lead this nation down the right path? Cuz he says he is against abortions, are we to overlook all of the other character defects that this man has? I for one am not going to be fooled again. I will continue to volunteer at the crisis pregnancy center, but I will vote Obama.

Exalt 4 Prissy!!!!!

Obama said that while he does not believe in gay marriage, he does think the state should allow civil unions that allow a same-sex couples to visit each other in a hospital or transfer property to each other. "If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans," Obama said. blog.christianitytoday.com/ctliveblog/archives/2008/03/obama_cites_ser.htmlOBAMA undermines your work prissy. He says to the 14 year old, go across the border, don't tell your parents, have your abortion, and don't worry, no one's going to ask about the 20 year-old daddy. Uh! Am I in Kansas City or St. Louis?

water, Perhaps you can share that insight with your friend denounced. He has obviously been bamboozled by the right-wing hacks. Maybe he thinks he's Alan Keyes or someone. Then again, they kicked that Uncle Tom to the curb too!! When you decide to read the book, or just maybe if you have, tell me who the REAL uncle tom's are, and I will hand you Obama on a plate. As for all of you all out there who ASSUME that I voted for Bush twice, WROOOOONG! Other than hot button issues....Judicial Appointments!!!!!!!! But who said I was voting for McCain either. But I am surely anti-Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!
