SAVED? ? Is it synonymous to being born-again? Is everybody saved? Should your answer be bible based? If you are saved, when did it happen? What are you saved from? I present this question to anyone that calls themselves Christian, obviously if you have another faith tradition your answer will differ vastly (and I didn't start this thread to argue about inter religious differences). I'll be back later with my response, don't want to control the discussion .

Ahhhhh Romans 10:9...said in churches around the world....Good start P. So EVERYBODY that says that prayer and confesses and believes is SAVED?
Does that make them born again? Is salvation equivalent to being born again?

I agree with Nupe but I don't believe salvation is automatic delieverance. That's the process of exercising your salvation.

SAVED? ? Essentially what Nupe said.Is it synonymous to being born-again? YES!Is everybody saved? NO, we have free-will. You 'choose' to be saved.Should your answer be bible based? Absolutely. If you are saved, when did it happen? A long time ago...I may have been 8 or 9.What are you saved from? Eternal damnation/hell.I present this question to anyone that calls themselves Christian, obviously if you have another faith tradition your answer will differ vastly (and I didn't start this thread to argue about inter religious differences). I'll be back later with my response, don't want to control the discussion .

I'm saved, but I rather say I have been delivered. There are many people walking around claiming to be saved, but don't walk the path. That tends to confuse those who want to be saved and delivered, but see people not walking the path that claim to be saved.

I really wanted to think about this before I posted my answer. In many of our churches we hear very frequently about salvation in terms of being "free from the penalty of sin", i.e. Jesus died for you so you can live....but I feel that a solid reading of the New Testament reveals that biblical salvation always included "freedom from the power of sin" as well.
Freedom of the power of sin being the power of Christ inside you to say "no" and be delivered from fornication, cursing, lying etc.
Nobody on here knows me from before I was Jay0 "heavenly"....lol... I used to curse like a sailor, drink, smoke trees, get into mad fights, you name it. When I got saved, no doubt about it I was free from the penalty of sin, but more importantly I was free from the "power of sin". I no longer "had" to curse, smoke, etc... Obviously I can if I choose, but now like Paul said in Romans "I will not be mastered by anything". Its been years since I did any of that. I say this NOT to boast about me, cuz I ain't nothing personally, only that Christ truly has a strong hand to deliver. The adage found in 1 John 4:4 "Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world" is eternally true.
Hence, although salvation is a loaded term, in my deduction of scripture, it begins with hearing God's call, answering it by receiving Christ into your heart. Once Jesus has been let it, its IMPOSSIBLE to stay the same. Many people that said a prayer one day and are still the same 2 years later are probably the victims of a false conversion. But thats another thread all together.
Man I love all yall with the love of the Lawd!

Jay I have to disagree that they are the victims of false conversion. It could be because they don't know how to listen to God, how to pray correctly and what it truly means to be saved. Some are false converts but I think most lack the understanding of standing on the word of God, and putting on the whole armor of God. I believe most of the problems come from a lack in discernment. Some people don't know the difference of when they are being tried by God or tempted by the devil. Those who truly understand the power of the Holy Spirit will be able to distinguish.

no I don't... find me that thread. I definitely did in the past, but God convicted me about being insulting to people that He loves. Jesus would never call someone "faggot" so that word had to leave my vocab as well. Nice try tho P
