Yo Froze, My soror may have previously articulated her desire for her little sister to refrain from using certain things that belong to her. Perhaps she felt her sister was not respecting her wishes. Maybe, she didn't. I don't know, I wasn't there, so I can't speak intelligently on the issue. Question: Would you allow your 11 year old brother/cousin/nephew wear your Alpha shirt? I wouldn't let my nieces wear mine. (Delta shirt, of course.) As a matter of fact, my GROWN niece had the nerve to wear one of my shirts to the grocery store. I didn't know she had it on. When she came back from the store, I saw her sitting in the car with it on. I lit into her arse. I then went to the trunk of my car and pulled out a generic shirt and had her change in car. To me, it is a matter of respect. That's a negative. I would not allow my 11 year old brother/cousin/nephew to wear my Alpha shirt unless he had absolutely nothing else to wear. Even then I would find him another shirt to put on as soon as possible. However, wearing the letters and drinking from a cup with the letters on it are two different things in my opinion.

I respect your opinion. To me, there is no difference. But, that's me. It's all good, though. Different strokes for different folks.

Wearing the letters on your chest implies that you are a member. Drinking from a cup with the letters on it just means that you were thirsty.

Wearing the letters on your chest implies that you are a member. Drinking from a cup with the letters on it just means that you were thirsty. If I saw a child wearing greek paraphernalia, it would not imply to me that they are greek. However, if an adult was wearing said clothing, or drinking from a cup with greek insignia, it would imply to me that they are greek. But, that's me. It's cool, old Frozen One. We disagree on this, but I respect, and understand your opinon.

common courtesy and common sense should come before any org I hope that Mom in Jays story got with her daughter. I've let a roommate (an SGRho) carry my umbrella when she had to run into a building. I personally didn't care because it's raining hard and I'm not about to let her get all wet when there is a huge umbrella in the car but I didn't know how she would feel. But she simply said "we know what organization we're in," got the umbrella and went in to the building and that was that. I don't know. I would feel some sort of way about letting my partna use anything with my crest/letters on it. Naw, I couldn't do it. I was coming in from the rain, and my co-worker asked to use my umbrella. I told her she couldn't, but I did let her borrow the black one I had in my trunk. So what if you didn't have an umbrella? Would you have just let them get wet? Or would you have gone through the trouble of parking, cutting the car off, and then escorting them all the way into and outside of the building? sorry but that just seems really extra to me.

Wearing the letters on your chest implies that you are a member. Drinking from a cup with the letters on it just means that you were thirsty. If I saw child wearing greek paraphanelia, it would not imply to me that they are greek. However, if an adult was wearing said clothing, or drinking from a cup with greek insignia, it would imply to me that they are greek. But, that's me. It's cool, old Frozen One. We disagree on this, but I respect, and understand your opinon. I think we might be looking at it from two different angles. If someone is in my house and I offer them something to drink and I give it to them in an ALPHA mug, I don't see the issue. Would I allow them to carry my mug out in public? No I wouldn't. I would then give them a mug without letters on it. If a child is in my household and they need a tshirt to sleep in or wear around the house, I may allow them to put on a frat tshirt. However, they wouldn't be able to wear it in public. If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been in the Greek Game?

No, I would not have just let them get wet. Yes, I would have gone through the trouble of parking, cutting the car off, and escorting them into the building. We're different. It's okay. But I'd let them know to refer to the weather channel prior to going somewhere else with me.

The problem is really that there is too much paraphernalia available. The only gear I wear is a simple t-shirt, a jacket, or a pin. Why would I use an umbrella with the shield on it in the dirty rain?
Some of the stuff for sale these days is pathetic. I see cheap hats, rings, lighters, medallions, and even flip flops with letters on them. That stuff doesn't even have the correct colors on it sometimes. Stop buying this cheap Chinese-made gear.
