Of course you all know that current "flack" that's been generated by comments Sen. Obama made regarding how many rural Americans feel regarding industrial jobs, the immigration issue and the economy overall. Certainly I knew what in hell he meant...and really, 90% of Americans knew as well. What they also know is that HE'S RIGHT! So, why can't Hillary and McCain see it as well? www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/11/clinton-mccain-respond-to_n_96318.html

He gave a speech earlier today and addressed it again.
He is coming harder at Clinton now and he should. I can understand wanting to take the high road, but sometimes you just have to make it plain. He contrasted how his campaign has not taken any money from corporations or lobbyists with Penn, her top aide meeting with the Columbians. He didn't bring up the $800k that Bill Clinton has received from the Columbians in the past few years in an attempt to get his support for the Columbian trade agreement. He also didn't mention the $100M that the Clinton's have earned in the past few years. I would have gone all the way there if it were me.

It's called framing. People take one or two arguments/issues/comments and redissiminate them in the context that best suits their purposes. That's how Karl Rove won Bush the '04 election.
The people who get what Obama said are gonna vote for him. The people who don't or became offended prolly wouldn't have voted for him against Hillary now or against McCain in November.

Aunty Prissy is right, but like Lady said, some rhetoric isn't worth mentioning when it comes to voting. The Clinton taking in boat loads of money is nothing new and their supporters (by and large) could care less. They'll vote for the Clinton Mob either way.... Obama eloquently addressed the remarks regarding "small town people" on CNN's "Compassion" forum last night. At the end of it all, he hit the nail on the head and justified his position with straight talk...any sane person would have had to at least agree with why he said it....On the other hand, Clinton tried her best to exploit his comments and accused Obama of being an elitist....ain't that the pot calling the kettle...*smh*

Correct PUN.. these are his words:
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them...And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
The words in red are the ones being blasted on television. The words in italics are what put the entire section in context. He was absolutely correct. Think about it. Whenever the economy gets bad, America gets real racist! They start ralling around things that make them different.
* * * Typical CAMEL Pledging-Life Analogy TO FOLLOW* * *
In the absence of good programs, value added partnerships and forward thinking activities, all greeks will blame and rally around the one common hot subject: Pledging and the pledge process. Some for it and some against it but both with VERY STRONG opinions...and valid points.
* * * End Analogy * * *
So, when people start feeling left out of the conversation, they rally around what's familiar....racism, guns, religion, etc...
It's true and the Clintons know it. Hayle, they said the same thing during the past 2 elections when gay marriage and affirmative action was being used by the Republican party to sway votes.

Help me out y'all cause I honestly can't recall the details clearly hear.
When Clinton got caught super-sizing her trip to Bosnia, did both Obama and McCain team up in unison on her?
But for each bump in the road, McCain and Clinton jump on Barack. Is that how it's been happening?
If not - please disregard - if so - draw your own conclusions.

Cam,
When you said this:

..you said it all!!!
"Them thar "fernirs" and "emmy-grants" is takin' all our jobs and such." "I say we load up our rifles, 'mount us up a posse, and run them emmi-grants back 'cross that border where they come from."

This newest "scandal" is the biggest non-issue I've ever seen. I can see how the Jeremiah Wright controversey could get people riled up. But Obama's recent comments are not even the least bit inflammatory. EVEN when the words Cam highlighted in red are taken out of context, they're STILL not earth-shattering. And Hillary looks like a new fool standing up shouting, "Shame on you, Barack Obama!" over such a non-issue. Barack shouldn't have even apologized for this.

Well, it looks like the spin-meisters have failed again!! Polls show that Obama's "bitter" comments have had little to no effect on voters in PA. I guess Hilary and McCain will now sit and wait for Obama to misspeak, so they'll have something to try to turn the voters against him...seeing as how they can't do it with anything from their own platforms. news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080415/pl_politico/9617

I agree Z...it was a complete non-issue and when Hillary made the "elitist" comment, it seemed to backlash...But I think Obama was right to not only apologize, but also clear his statements that were (as Cam pointed out) taken well out of context in the first place.... I still think Hillary will win PA.

She will win PA, but that gap has closed from nearly 20 percentage points to just 4. He will sweep N. Carolina and Indiana, and once again, she will be left in a familiar spot...not having enough of the votes to continue to push the issue. Besides, her money is most likely running out again.

Speaking of money, Clinton's camp is trying to discredit Obama's ability to close her lead by saying he is outspending her 3 to 1. Well, where is the money coming from so he CAN outspend her? That is right, he is also doubling and tripling her fundraising. That tells the story right there. People believe in his campaign and are sending him money. Not the big money donors either, like Bob Johnson, but regular folks.
