Okay this broad is crazy. She has a lot of nerve spouting off this BS and then trying to justify it with this weak reply. And Clinton is dead wrong for co-signing this mess by not getting rid of her. Take a read and leave your thoughts. :smh:
Obama Says Ferraro Dividing Democrats By JOAN LOWY – 1 hour ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic Sen. Barack Obama assailed as "slice and dice" politics Geraldine Ferraro's assertion that he wouldn't be where he is in the presidential race if he weren't black.
The back-and-forth between the two Democratic trailblazers — Obama, seeking to be the nation's first black president, and Ferraro, who was the first woman on a major party presidential ticket in 1984 — continued for a second day as they made appearances on network and cable morning news programs.
"Part of what I think Geraldine Ferraro is doing, and I respect the fact that she was a trailblazer, is to participate in the kind of slice and dice politics that's about race and about gender and about this and that, and that's what Americans are tired of because they recognize that when we divide ourselves in that way we can't solve problems," Obama said on NBC's "Today" show.
Ferraro, who was Walter Mondale's vice presidential running mate, said Wednesday that her remarks were not racist and had been taken out of context. She accused Obama's campaign of twisting her remarks to undercut his rival for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"I was talking about historic candidacies and what I started off by saying (was that) if you go back to 1984 and look at my historic candidacy, which I had just talked about all these things, in 1984 if my name was Gerard Ferraro instead of Geraldine Ferraro, I would have never been chosen as a vice presidential candidate," Ferraro said on ABC's "Good Morning America." "It had nothing to do with my qualification."
Ferraro said she has a 40-year history of opposing discrimination of all kinds, including race, and that she was outraged at criticism of her remarks by David Axelrod, Obama's chief media strategist, because he knows her and her record.
"David Axelrod, his campaign manager, has chose to spin this as a racist comment because everytime anybody makes a comment about race who is white — he did it with Bill Clinton, he was successful; he did it with (Pennsylvania governor and Clinton supporter) Ed Rendell, he was less successful; and he is certainly not going to be successful with me," Ferraro told CBS' "The Early Show." "He should have called me up ... He knows I'm not racist."
The controversy began Tuesday when the national media picked up on comments Ferraro made in an interview last week with the Daily Breeze newspaper in Torrance, Calif.: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
Ferraro said she stands by her assertion that Obama's success in the Democratic campaign is due "in part" to his race.
Obama, however, said that if someone in his campaign had suggested that Hillary Clinton "is where she is only because she is a woman" she would be offended.
Clinton has said she disagrees with Ferraro's remarks. In an interview with The Associated Press, she said, "It's regrettable that any of our supporters — on both sides, because we both have this experience — say things that kind of veer off into the personal."

Obama is lucky to be black like Clinton is lucky to be white... Ferraro KNOWS better than to make the statement she made - it's ridiculous.
How many black people live in Wisconsin, Vermont, or Iowa? How was Obama lucky there?
If Ferraro is saying he is winning some states only because he's winning the black vote, isn't it also true that Clinton is winning some states only because of the white vote. Do we say she is lucky for it? Do we credit all her success to the fact that she is white?

I'm with you Damie. This lady gets on GMA and says she was only saying that black people took pride in him and came out to vote. :smh: if that was the case then just say that. She's a clown and I'm not buying it. Hopefully she is just senile and spouting off because if not she is all the dummies in the world. Since when has being a black male been an asset in running for office in this country. Gimme a break.

Obama is where he is IN SPITE OF being black. No black person has ever been taken seriously as a candidate for president in the past. Does she think that all of America has just suddenly changed their minds and decided that being black is a novelty and that we should rally around the happy negro who "speaks so well". No, Obama has gotten support because he is talking about a different type of politics. The only people who seem to have trouble grasping that concept are the old political figures who refuse to see that Americans are tired of business as usual.

I forgot to put in my previous post....
I am getting sick of the double standard that Hillary has for how supporters who get out of line should be treated. Anytime someone in Obama's camp says something offensive about Hillary, they get fired, but she has not distanced herself from Ferrarro at all. It doesn't help that Ferrarro stands by her statements and is not at all apologetic. Hillary is a monster...

Obama's camp should make "hay" out of this hypocrisy. Hillary is always looking for a way to show how the 2 candidates are different well HERE is one of them.
Hillary is going to be forced to distance herself from Ferraro (especially if she is standing by her comment - which it seems - foolishly she is). It's not just the argument she made is controversial, it's untrue.
Obama won in states where there were very few black people. What is resonating is NOT his race, but his positions and ideas. For Ferraro to try to boil it down to being merely a matter of race is an intellectually BANKRUPT argument that she cannot win. And the more she sticks by it, the more Hillary is going to have to distance herself from it.

I think Ms. Gerry is losing her mind!
On "Good Morning America" today, I thought she was gonna jump out of that chair and beat Diane Sawyer's ass....all because Diane was trying to get her to understand, really, how her statement was perceived. She was too busy trying to make sure she got that bullshit response out...before she forgot it, and knew she'd get caught in her own mess.
Like Diane Sawyer told her (when she tried to parallel her situation in 1984 to Obama,) Sawyer said, "but senator, Walter Mondale CHOSE you, you didn't run for president.)
That old huzzy obviously forgot that before she opened her mouth and put her foot in it!!

Sadly by not condemning Ferraro Clinton has cosigned what she said and pretty much sealed her fate in terms of credibility nevermind being the candidate. She really doesn't realize how she's messed up. She will though.

The only thing missing from her was a statement about how some of her best friends are black. *smh* lemme know when she gets her foot outta her mouth....

I saw her on GMA too. I don't know how she can keep defending her statements. It is ludicrous to assume that Obama has made it this far only because he is black.
She also stated that she would not have been picked as VP candidate if she were not a woman, and that it had nothing to do with her qualifications. That is probably true in her case...but not Obama's. He was top of his class at Harvard law, his qualifications far exceed George W, and most of the other presidents that have been in office. He has good decision making skills, he is not afraid to go against popular opinion (Iraq war), and he has an even temperament. On top of all of that, he speaks so well...

anyone else notice how she kept dropping the word "racist" and the word wasn't uttered by Obama or anyone from his camp? That is the other thing. She did keep saying that Obama's camp called her statement racist when they did not say that. They did say it was inappropriate and untrue. Anyone who reads that statement has to see that it is racist.

She knows it is racist and easily interpreted as such and her chosing to ignore its offensiveness shows just how racist she is...she is basically saying I can say whatever the hell I want to say about black people and because I've "helped" them in the past they need to shut up and be grateful for that and not question anything I have to say...

I'm just not surprised at anything that flies out of these people's mouths.
This is a campaign that was supposed to sewn up by New Hampshire! They are completely thrown, because even when Obama loses, he STILL wins (like the Tejas caususes).
Obama had to reject and denounce Farrahkan to appease hillary. He should demand that she reject and denounce Ferraro just the same. Just for fun.
I'm more concerned about the REAL race than these desperate clowns.

Geraldine Ferraro Steps DOWN from Clinton Finance Cmte.
Does this mean the campaign is giving back the money she raised?

Ferraro and these other imbeciles out here don't seem to understand, is that everytime they make foolish comments trying to link Obama's campaign success to his race, is that they totally dismiss the fact that while they say these things, he is getting support from the very states with the SMALLEST NUMBERS of blacks within their population. I don't know how many of y'all have ever heard him, but you may have seen him on Larry King or Anderson Cooper 360, but when you get the chance, check out Ed Schultz. He's a progressive radio host out of IDAHO of all places, and even he told those two silly repubs last night (the former speechwriter for Bush and the sista who is ALWAYS having a bad hair day...Holmes or somebody,) as well as the guy in Clinton's campaign....he basically stated that Obama is STILL ahead in delegates, and while Hilary may have slowed his momentum last week, here again this week he's won TWO consecutive primaries. And in so many words he said, "let the Clintons try to talk their way to a championship if they want, but they'd better be careful." And on the issue of a re-vote in FL and MI, he said "if Hilary is smart, she wouldn't be pushing for a re-vote in ANYTHING right now." As I said...a radio talk show host out of IDAHO who seems to have more of a sensible and legitimate perspective on this whole thing than those from the big cities. He made fools out of those republican strategists on there a couple of weeks ago. He's worth listening to if you get the chance.

OMG! I've been saying this all day! It was almost like a canned defense...like she designed the initial statement to bait Obama's camp into calling her racist, and when they didn't, that was still the only way she could defend what she said. anyone else notice how she kept dropping the word "racist" and the word wasn't uttered by Obama or anyone from his camp?

They were discussing this on the Michael Baisden show this evening. I am beginning to get sick of him now. He says he is an Obama supporter, but he keeps talking about how much of a 'fighter' Clinton is and that we should not be so passionate about stuff like this, saying its just politics.
Politics my azz! This just shows how we have been pimped by so-called white democrats who really don't give a damn about us. Now their 'true' feelings are coming out. First Bill and his dumb azz Jesse Jackson won SC comment, now this from Gerry. I very very well remember when Gerry was chosen for VP. The apple don't fall far from the tree and I really feel that Hillary don't give a damn about us.
As far as I'm concerned they are all closest KKKs. Hillary will never get my vote, nor will the uncle tom black politicians who are supporting her.
