Here is our completed plan of action for our community service program
Community service
Incorporating the Goals of Omega Omicron, Education, Fellowship, and Mentorship
We, the larvae, have came up with a e-community service program entitled:
My Black is Beautiful: Uplifting Ladies
African Americans come in many shades of colors. Throughout time society has tried to devalue the value of self love within African Americans and make us think that the color of our skin color is not beautiful and that if you have “lighter skin or close to white skin” that that is the only form of beauty in the African American race. This type of thinking and brain washing that society had instilled can result in a lower self-esteem with African American women. Our goal is to Uplift Ladies and allow them to realize that our people come in a variety of colors making us beautiful to not only ourselves but to the outside world.
Self-esteem in the black community will also be examined in the aspect attempting to Debunk the negative stereotypes that society attempts to associates with being African American. Such topics will cover, natural v permed hair and the video girl aspect of life
During this program, we will be showing a short documentary entitled, A Girl Like Me youtube.com/watch?v=PAOZhuRb_Q8 and then having a period of question and answer, where we ask thought provoking questions and ask that everyone in attendance shares personal experiences or shed some insight on the issue
Our goal is to educate women of African American decent on this very important social issue. We are reclaiming what’s ours. We are Fellowshipping with women because we are inviting women to share their ideas on this issue which is a controversial issue in society. And Lastly we are mentoring women because we are trying to make an impact on the lives of those in attendance, fore we want them to walk away from the program Owning their Blackness, and reassuring themselves that their black is 100% Beautiful

That sounds interesting. When will this take place? location? Who is on the invite list? What is your method of evaluating the success of this project? Metrics?
