NAIROBI, May 22 (Reuters) - Police said on Thursday they had jailed 19 people suspected of burning to death 11 elderly Kenyan men and women accused of being witches in a case that has horrified the east African nation.
A mob in the Kisii area of west Kenya went from house-to-house on Tuesday night, identifying people on a list and burning them to death in their homes.
"The police arrested 19 people on Thursday morning," Kenya's deputy police spokesman Charles Owino said.
"These people were interrogated and once we gather information they will be charged in court."
Despite the peaceful co-existence of traditional African beliefs, Christians and Muslims in Kenya, there is widespread suspicion of sorcery, particularly in the west, which has a long history of witch doctors and faith healers.
Police have drafted extra personnel into the area to prevent revenge attacks in a region already reeling from tribal killings during Kenya's post-election crisis.
In 1993, eight elderly people from Kisii were also accused of witchcraft and burned to death in their huts by a mob.
See what christianity is doing to our ancestral systems? Sparking this type of bullchit like what was going on in europe .
Murdering the sacred feminine. They will pay dearly....

People who kill witches or anybody else because of what religion they are following are not followers of Yahshua they are following Satan so even though they maybe labeled as christians that dont mean nothing. Sinners do have to die but the death is to the world in order to see the kingdom of God you must be Born Again
so churchianity and religion are deadly practices but The Blood of Jesus Christ was the atonement for our sins . I

The article i read didnt call them Christians - it just said a mob of 300 men
Kenya mob reportedly burns 11 ‘witches’ Police say locals accused women and men of ‘bewitching’ their children
updated 2:37 p.m. CT, Wed., May. 21, 2008
NAIROBI, Kenya - A group of up to 300 young men have burned to death 11 people suspected of being witches and wizards in western Kenya — in some cases slitting their victims' throats or clubbing them to death before burning their bodies, officials said.
The gang moved from home to home through two villages, identifying their victims by using a list with names of suspected witches and wizards and the kind of spells they were believed to have cast on the community, said Ben Makori, a local councilor.
"The villagers are complaining that the (suspected) wizards and witches are making the bright children in the community dumb.... These (suspected) witches are not doing good things to us," Makori told The Associated Press on the phone.
Deputy police spokesman Charles Owino said the gang hunted down the eight women and three men in the western Kenya villages of Kekoro and Matembe. Most of the victims were between 70 and 90 years old, Owino said.
Senior administrator Njoroge Ndirangu said the gang hunted down their victims Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Victims slashed or clubbed In some cases the gang pulled the victims out of their homes, slit their throats or clubbed them to death, said a police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.
The victims were then thrown back into their homes, which the gang had already set on fire, the officer said. He said 36 houses were burned.
Another police officer, Mwaura Njoroge, said the body of a victim burned to death in her house was, "reduced to something so small, you cannot tell which is the leg and which is the arm."
"How can they (the young men) prove that a person is a wizard? It is likely that the people who committed these killings had personal vendettas against their victims," Njoroge said.
"These people identified who is to be killed by accusing their victims of bewitching their sons and daughters," said Ndirangu, the commissioner in charge of Kisii Central district, where one of the villages is located.
Ndirangu said that residents are superstitious and have often targeted suspected witches and wizards, but this week's attack was the most shocking in recent years.
The police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said investigators had little hope of making progress because the villagers have refused to identify the people who carried out attacks.

GNG what would gangs do with killing witches? Witches dont sell dope or beat up people.
These were spiritual mercy killings.
Whether its Christian Mercenaries getting people to live their traditional faiths and the converts killing and mimicking the actions done by Christians in Europe in the 1300's by burning women at the stake
Or Muslims doing the same thing which in Mali today Men and Women of the Dogon Tribe cant even get jobs because they wont convert to Islam.
They are killing off our elders through out the continent attempting to break the link of our true selves and it's sad Before you throw on a cape read up.
Kenya is a Christian country.

An estimated three quarters of all Kenyans profess to be Christian, whether nominally or otherwise (the majority being Protestant), up from precisely zero before the first European missionaries arrived in the 1840s. Approximately one fifth of the population still adhere to their traditional beliefs and religions, although these are fast disappearing in the face of an often aggressive evangelical presence. A minority of Kenyans (around 6%) are Muslim.

GNG, it sounds like the media is trying to cover up. Of course this is christians against "pagans". A tale that is 2000 years old. This is the same thing that was said in the Salem Witch Trials, "they are bewitching the children and making them dumb". It sounds like white supremacy and it's agent christianity has bewitched us and made us dumb. This is sad and wrong.

2 corint 11
3For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Kenya is a Christian country. The media won't say: "An angry mob of 300 Christians killed elders in a traditionalist community" It will bring light to the Christian mercenaries that are destroying our elders. They are spreading the religion with the sword and through dispair.
