Who said this? What was his rational? Who "declared" these rules of marriage?
Just asking...

Proverbs
1:1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
1:2 to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding; 1:3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 1:4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man: 1:5 that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel: 1:6 to understand a proverb, and parables, the words and riddles of the wise. 1:7 The fear of YHWH is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction. 1:8 My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching: 1:9 for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck. 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent. 1:11 If they say, “Come with us, Let’s lay in wait for blood; let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; 1:12 let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit. 1:13 We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with spoil. 1:14 You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse.” 1:15 My son, don’t walk in the way with them. Keep your foot from their path, 1:16 for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood. 1:17 For in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird: 1:18 but these lay wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives. 1:19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners. 1:20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares. 1:21 She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words: 1:22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge? 1:23 Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you. 1:24 Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention; 1:25 but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof; 1:26 I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you; 1:27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come on you. 1:28 Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me; 1:29 because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of YHWH. 1:30 They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof. 1:31 Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes. 1:32 For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them. 1:33 But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”

Proverbs 18:22
Some see this as a commandment about who should find whom, but I see it as a statement that a having a wife is a blessing.
I'm rather traditional in my views about relationships and I don't really like to see a woman aggessively pursuing a man. Howver, I don't see any harm in her putting herself in a position to be found, either.
Some people "find" each other. That was how it was for me and my husband. We were in the same place at the same time and connected. I was not seeking a husband at the time nor was he seeking a wife. Many years later we are still together and our marriage is blessed.

Who said it was a rule? But I will say this, an aggressive, straight to the point, assertive, dominant minded, etc. woman needs to recognize that the man is head of the home, and that those characteristics be applied elsewhere with caution. But there is wisdom to be found in that statement that rings throughout the Bible. Study Time!!!!!!!

So if the man is the head of the house, does that mean he should take care of the house besides the bills and etc.?

Why some men feel that being the head of the household equates to a woman being subservient, docile, and weak minded is beyond me. A woman can be assertive and dominant etc etc and still respect that the husband is the head.
There are alot of men that arent fit to lead and a subservient, docile, and weak minded woman would lack the ability to discern that earning herself a one way ticket to---> domestic violence-ville.

You better say that! We as women deserve to be treated like you EQUAL, not your MAID! You can BUY a maid.........hopefully they SHOULD respect their wife.

Sadly, some men think its a one way street. My husband WILL be the head of OUR house but if he isnt fit to lead....well....lol...those who know me know that dating a weak dude isnt even a possibility. A GREAT leader knows WHEN to LEAD and WHEN to FOLLOW. *applauded @ #3* <--- passes Jay the big piece of chicken <-- doesnt care b/c doesnt eat meat

A GREAT leader knows WHEN to LEAD and WHEN to FOLLOW. *applauded @ #3* <--- passes Jay the big piece of chicken <-- doesnt care b/c doesnt eat meat I can't speak for the rest of the dudes in the world, but as for me, I will take being a husband 100% seriously and make every endeavor to love my wife "as Christ loved the Church". Meaning, I'll do my best to be in connection with God at all times, be willing to sacrifice everything I have (my life included), be patient etc. Thats not a small task. I joke about the big piece of chicken, but being the "head" of the household is a huge task. One that A LOT of people can't handle. Bottom line, if the husband ain't in spiritual order, then he should NOT be followed, period. Him knowing how to fix the sink doesn't qualify him. We can't confuse masculinity with spiritual readiness to be the head of the household.

Proverbs 5:1-19 1: My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: 2: That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge. 3: For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: 4: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. 5: Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. 6: Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. -We all know a few of these...some better than others 7: Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. 8: Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: 9: Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: 10: Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; 11: And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, 12: And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; 13: And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! 14: I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly. 15: Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. 16: Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. 17: Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee. 18: Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. 19: Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. -That's what i'm tryin to find! Can anyone help a brotha out?

I have been blessed to marry into a family that believes that a man is the head of the house but we all need to remember that the woman is the heart of the house. She can make or break her husband and her household with the words that she says and how she carries herself
