I have been hearing that Will and Jada are practicing Scienology for a while. Is anyone here familiar with it??
I read about it in Wikipedia (albeit it's not the best place to learn about anything) and I have a hard time believing in it. That episode on South Park didn't help it, either!
Scientology is seen by many people as cultish. If someone close to you were a Scientologist, how would you treat them?

Its false doctrine that has nothing rooted in Jesus Christ. Heaven help all those getting wrapped up in this mess.

Just read up on Scientology - I'm glad I'm not in it, and if I was, I would be in a rush to get out of it

Me and you both Damie. I don't understand how they call it Christian Scientology when they aren't about Christ. Why not just Scientology. They are on some real Bull in my opinion.

I was trying to read a synopsis of Dianetics (which apparently Scientology is based on) and dude went from low orbit to outer space with some of the stuff he was talking about.
You know how you can read some philosophical thoughts/ideas and understand them (even if you don't agree with them). I read some of the Dianetics foundations and some of them make absolutely no sense as they come with no context. Example:
Survival is accomplished by Alter-is-ness and Not-is-ness, by which is gained the persistency known as Time.
Put the lid back on the paint thinner and move away from the fumes immediately... cause you are losing your mind.

LMAO at Damie. I remember being in Harlem for their annual book fair a few years ago and this brotha was coming at me with the Dianetics book. I had to set him straight. He didn't know I was thorough with the word. He started out on that Christian Science is almost just like Christianity. He lost right when he said almost like. :smh: Heaven help those huffing space cadets.

Ya'll know that Scientology-based episode about Scientiology is just like the Wikipedia entry and what I've gleaned from other sources. Hmmmmm . . .

I don't know if you read some of the Wiki entry but they alluded to the Church (and I use the term loosely here) of Scientology was out there running operations on folks... I mean like they would go out on missions to subvert those who they perceived to be their enemies...
...like they were special forces or black ops or something. The wiki entry alleges that they tried to set this lady up for making bomb threats because she was an outspoken critic of their church and was writing a book. They almost had her too according to the wiki entry.

Well, you should have seen the Scientologists on Nip/Tuck! They kidnapped Matt!
They scare me. Like they're the Illuminati or something.

And what is up with the Noise Cancellation Birth? That is crazy. If the baby comes out and it's crying will it's own cries traumatize itself?

They are full of it! They target Hollywood because they know the weirdos are so shallow there and they are always "looking for something."

In the wiki entry they said that the celebrities are treated better and inaccessible to the general audience. What kind of church has VIP members?

Searchin--I think you're getting "Christian Science" mixed up with "Scientology". To totally different religions, and Christian Scientists DO believe in Christ (I still don't particularly agree with their doctrine--they are TOTALLY against any medical intervention and believe ONLY in prayer to heal illnesses).

Oh, and another thing: I read a magazine article once that a woman who grew up in Scientology wrote about the belief. She said that the version Tom Cruise and all the other celebrities are involved in is different than what the "average" Joes are involved in. She made it sound HORRIBLE and cult-like--I think they all lived in a compound and went to special schools or something. She said she had to fight like crap to get out of that mess.

But peep game... dude said:
Survival is accomplished by Alter-is-ness and Not-is-ness, by which is gained the persistency known as Time.
It sounds deep cause you can't make sense of it. Sometimes that's enough to fool people.

First off, Big shout out to "Z" for letting a brother know about the new board... I was going through bible beater withdrawal.
I spent the last week in a cold sweat in my draws and one sock on with no shape up, curled up in my bed...lol
But as to ya boy Will Smith and Scientology, I'm not surprised, a lot of celebs are drawn to it. I agree overall with Damie and Searchin tho... God knows if someone close to me was interested in it, I'd devote a lot of my attention to stop them.
<===goes to read up more on scientology.

In the wiki entry they said that the celebrities are treated better and inaccessible to the general audience. What kind of church has VIP members? PLENTY of churches in California (where a lot of celebrities attend) have VIP parking and sections for celebrities to sit. I remember reading an interview with Tia and Tamara Mowry (the "Sister Sister" girls) and they said they had to leave a church because they felt uncomfortable with how it was being run and how celebs vs. "regular" folks were treated.

Yeah I feel you Z, this been happening since Bible days though. In James, he tells the readers not to treat the people that come in wearing gold and fine linens BETTER than the way they treat someone coming in with rags.
People, leaders especially feel validated when they have a celebrity taking advice from them. I heard Kirk Franklin say once that the most liberating eye opening experience he had was when he went to a church and told the usher..."Can you tell Pastor that Kirk Franklin is here" and the usher came back and walked him up to the balcony where everybody else was sitting...lol.

Somebody in the "comments" section said it best: he basically said NOTHING AT ALL for several minutes. WTF? And when they say "I've got to help"--HOW exactly do they "help"? By donating money or food or clothing to the needy? Or telling them, "I'm here to help, you can get your life right with Scientology"?

I will say that I'm probably the most open on the board religiously. I watched a few video's about this scientology stuff. They off base entriely. I thought it was metaphysics based but in reality it's just a bunch of bullchit really. Watch the BBC expose' of this. They have some dude who think's he is Tom Cruise bantering on and stuff. They try to bring up people's past and do smear campaigns to scare folks off. They also want to become popular so that's why they go afte celebrities.
Saying you gonna do a personality profile goes against metaphysics itself. It is the person who is the best teacher to themselves not a second party.
