Greeks..take a moment to spit what aspect you love most about your Fraternity or Sorority. Out of the many elements that make all of our orgs great (our history, service to our communities, charitable efforts, leadership training, commitment to the social and economic needs of our people, etc), what is the one aspect you love most?
I would have to say that out of all the great things about Alpha, for me, I love the Brotherhood aspect of it the most.
Brothers from different backgrounds, different upbringings with sometimes different ideals and aspirations coming together to work toward common goals and achievements. The common thread of Alpha that thousands upon thousands of men share is beautiful in and of itself. Like any family unit, there will always be brothers you don’t get along with as well as other brothers due to various reasons.
But I can honestly say that I do have several bros, who I didn’t know prior to Alpha, become so close to me they literally feel like family. Actually, my very best friend from childhood (who I’ve known 26 years) is an Alpha that pledged one year after me. We always treated each other like brothers prior to Alpha, but oddly enough, if feels that Alpha brought us even closer. Not only that, but the hospitality and camaraderie I’ve shared in 12 years with so many bros while traveling to different states is just an awesome feeling as well. So the Brotherhood factor definitely stands out for me as what I love most.
So how about it? Rep your org and give up the goods on what you love most about it. Ice.

*Good topic ice*
I love the fact that Delta Sigma Theta tends to be so unselfish. A lot of the time (at least in my experience) irrelevance is pushed to the side easily when there are tasks to be accomplished. We really focus on our founding purpose - a nonprofit organization dedicated to community service - and get things done when and where they are needed. And then when it's all said and done we can get down and have fun too. That's what I love about my sorority. It wouldn't have the same feeling if I was only in it for show, fame, or notoreity.

I love the Mystique of my org. Kappa has a rich history and is the Evny of other Orgs... No doubt Nupster. Us Alphas, Ques, Sigmas and Iotas have joint meetings the first Saturday of every month just to sit and discuss how we'll never be as cool and manly as "The Pretty Boys" of KAP. Sometimes we even have competitions amongst ourselves to prove who is the most jealous and dedicated hater too. Now as far as the females, I think their only real beef with you guys is that.... wherever there is a KAP chapter, 9 times out of 10, there is going to be a shortage of lip gloss, eye liner, hand mirrors, and hair spray in that city's beauty supply shop. Nupey, our black queens like to look pretty too. You Reds need to stop hogging up all the product

The brotherhood...the common bonds that we all share. That I can see another Black man on the street and not know anything about him...find out he's frat...and have an instant feeling of a bond and realize the things we have in common.

I'm simply proud of the fact that Alpha Phi Alpha is respected nationwide on various levels for its legacy and its contributions to this nation (past AND present,) and the work of my chapter and myself to continue to build on that foundation. There's so much more, but I'll stop there.

1. Every Iota goes thru the same exact process from 1A63 to today, so the paper vs real argument does not happen with us.
2. Being so small, everyone who comes to us does so for the right reasons. We do not run the risk of being a caricature of ourselves.
3. Our brothers seem to be strong and independent minded. You cannot be sensitive and pledge Iota. We make that clear to brothers who want to come into the fold.
4. No one has ever died, been hospitalized or physically hurt while pledging Iota. (I admit there are "whispers" of wood being swung these days. I guess that what happens as you get older)
5. You have a voice from day one. From the moment you cross, your 5 stars are as bright as the founders. Deference has no place with us (I say that, but the brothers from the 60's may disagree)
6. 10 of 12 founders still alive (only 4 are still active). 1 Founder renounced in 1963, actually 9 are still with us.
7. Other than Phi Beta Sigma, we are known for having a mix of different brothers. Again, no sterotypes or caricatures.
8. At the "Why I hate Kappa mtgs", nobody shows up. ;D
9. Since we have no sister bond, we have Sweethearts. I like them personally. They are on our national web site and are a part of Iota. No other aux is listed on any fraternity website. This demonstrates the respect we have for them.
10. The fact that since 1914, no Male BGLO has formed and grew from local, to regional, to national structure other than Iota Phi Theta. In 1981 Iota had 45 chapters. Today we have 272. Despite of the constant jokes and disrespect toward us from other fraternities and even members of some sororities we have survived and grown. That is an accomplishment in itself.

I dont care what non of you other bamas say....there aint nothing like a Kappa Party and Probate... I hear that man. Ya'll do make the most of your time and money. The Kappa's Ive seen usually do their probate and party in the same location. That way, the hair, facial and nail stylists, Avon, Mary Kay, and Partylite candle vendors are already all in the same spot and dont have to move their merchandise to a different location. Furthermore, ya'll dont have to worry about buying gifts for the new boys. They all get free makeovers the same night at the same location they probated. I'll give it to you..y'all Reds are efficient.

LOL @ Iceman!
I love the fact that my org. inspires it's members to be leaders in the community and to help those who less fortunate. I like the fact that we have continuious programs to help highlight and work on the issues that plague our black community.
This is just a few out of many, and I like Rob will stop there, lol!

I love that Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. shows sisterhood to members and nonmembers alike. From day one I was treated with respect. Even when I wasn’t a member I never felt like an outsider and always felt looked out for. I traveled from Tallahassee to Miami and never worried abut having a place to stay or food to eat. This is one of the main reasons I was drawn to the org.
I also love the fact that we aren’t made over once we become members. Our differences are praised not looked down. My chapter is a prime example of this. We come from so many backgrounds and experiences but all have so much to bring to the table and have a lot of fun working and playing together. We just went through a rough spot these past few days but coming out of the other side I think we are even stronger and more committed looking after each other.

Awwww Happy. All the above is real talk. Iotas are the coolest males around. At our school they stay doing service and are very personable. They stay out of trouble and are cool to chill with. Honestly, they are the guys we chill and have fun with without worrying about them trying to take advantage of us. True gentlemen!!!

I see you Happy...Rep your org homie. It's funny, I dont know one Iota, dont know what your hand sign is and never even heard your frat call. But some of my bros that do have Iota's on their yards all say you all are some of the most coolest laid back dudes they know. I mean you probably would have been better off trying to pledge Alpha and failing in your attempt than become an Iota..but still, it's all good. Hahaha..Sike Happy..I kid homie . Serisously, I can definetly respect your vigor and passion for your org. Ice
