It seems like the Republicans are afraid of Obama. They are running an ad in North Carolina highlighting Rev Wright.
They are obviously trying to hurt his chances against Hillary. Why are they even involved at this point?

Cause they feel like Obama can win there and become the Democratic nominee. They know they can beat Clinton, but they are actually afraid on Obama.
They know that the "Archie Bunkers" are wary of a black man "telling them what to do" as president, and they want to hit the ground running with this assumption.
Similar attacks were made on Harold Ford in Tennessee during his Senate race, and he is now an analyst on MSNBC.

To McBush's credit, he has asked his campaign to not run that ad in NC. He says he wants to campaign on issues rather than rhetoric. Even if it's only for show, he's exhibiting more decency than Hildegard has for the last few months.
