Critical Media Literacy "Flip the Narrative" • Educators/Adults - Saturday, February 23rd 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. • Students/Youth - Saturday, March 1st 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Ami Montavelli, Education Coordinator at William Grant Still Art Center leads educators and students in an exploration of women portrayed in the media with an opportunity to create an alternative narrative through collage.
Dollmaking at the Turn of the Century Thursday, February 21st 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Doll artist Teresa Tolliver hosts a workshop in making bottle dolls. $5 materials fee.
AKA Centennial Sing-A-Long Sunday, March 2nd, 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. Dr. Hansonia Caldwell Harriford, Emeritus Professor of Music, Cal State Dominguez Hills and Co-Editor of the Sorority Songbook will host a rousing sing-a-long of the Sorority's music. Open to all sorors. Official songbooks will be available for purchase.
AKA Celebrates "Women's History Month" Speech Contest Saturday, March 8th 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Middle School and High School students are invited to enter their original speeches for prizes and awards. Special Guest: Actor, Voltaire, of the critically acclaimed movie, "The Great Debaters".
