So I was on my old yard the other night watching the probate of our Ice Cold, new bros in my UG chapter ( SP 08 – Gorilla Warfare). After the probate, hymn, chants, etc, we took them (and their family members who came) out to celebrate, eat, present them with gifts, etc at a bro’s house off campus. Obviously, the boys were exhausted due to their road traveled and wanted nothing more than to crash into a coma-like sleep. It got me to thinking back to my lines post celebration, and how we wanted nothing more than to just cut it short and go fall in a deep sleep as well.
But in the days after you crossed the burning sands, when did it REALLY set in that you were Done...Finished…Fineto with your "process" In the days following, did it take you some time to transition fully into the "Wow, I really made it" mind frame or did you just snap right into it?
Speaking for myself, it took a few days to really grasp the concept that I was finally done. When my LB's and I stepped out on campus the morning after, there was still the slightest feeling of uneasiness or anxiousness when we saw the Bro's. Don’t get me wrong…they all were hyped , gave us a loud AAAA-PHIII when they saw us, showed love etc, etc. But there was still this subtle feeling like our Dean was going to flip the script at any moment, go from a smile to an immediate Ice Grill, and promise to make us pay later on for walking on the grass right in his sight..LOL. On top of that, a brother still felt a little uneasy when the sun when down for a night or two. Within days, I shook that off and it all did finally hit me though.
So for ya'll (and I’m sure the younger Greeks may have a fresher recollection), how long did it take to get out of "Pledge Mode" and become fully comfortable…. or Un-Shellshocked if that makes any sense? Holla
Oh yeah...and I have a trademark on the term "Post Neo Syndrome (TM)".....So dont try to jack my slang...hahaha

LOL @ to become "unshell shocked"! Well, we were actually "done" the week before we probated, so we were still meeting up to practice for that, but it wasn't as "tense". It did take me awhile to get use to my prophytes and realize that how they "were" isn't really how they "are". But I def. feel both fokal and Iceman about how at a certain point at night would come. I would get soooo sick to my stomach.

In your situation, it looks like you at least had some down time before you had to put on your game face for the probate. Unfortunately, we were in the mix to the very end... up to and into the probate. So I had that "weirded out" feeling for a hot minute the day and days after. And yeah, for a good 4 days.....Sundown plus the phone ringing EQUALED Iceman being "Shook"...even though I was now "Iceman, the Ice Cold Alpha"...hahaha I looked at the new Neos the other night before we departed and just laughed to myself..."Pay them dues of the post Neo blues Newbies"..haha

We were still meeting to practice for our neophyte show, and even had on para at the practices, however it really became more of a reality when we attended a Founders Day Celebration with the Sigmas at the Sigma House. (It was Blue and White Only!) So we really felt like, this is really it! However, they did not give a lot of time to dwell in the glory, we had service projects, placed on committees, and basically instructed on getting to work.

Do zetas and sigmas share the same Frathouse?

No. Its the Sigma's House, and the Zeta's have alot history information, our shield, etc. and some of the Zeta chapters use the house for chapter meetings, however the Sigma's pay for the upkeep, taxes, etc. for the house.

Good deal @ Southie lol!
At my ug, the Alphas had a house. We didn't have our meetings there because we have our own suite in the pan-hellenic building, but when it came to parties, and other social things, the frat house was the best place if you didn't want to pay anything. We had a soror's birthday party there one time. It was nice.

funny. That does sound like a sweet deal. All the perks of having your own house and none of the bills.

We gotta a frat house. We let the Sghro's use it for meetings and "intake" activites...
Ok I'm lying, we dont let the Rho's use it for anything except hanging out with the bruhs...
But WE DO use it for other reasons. We got serveral couches with pull out beds...lol

The beds are usually for frat thats in from out of town. Like if we have provential here, we'll let some bruhs save money by staying at the house.

It took a minute for me to get out of pledge mode. Honestly, I was asked a question at MIP (I kid you not) and I jumped into pledge mode when we were supposed to be learning Alpha history at the time. Everyone looked at me like WHOA!

Big O..you aint never lied homie..haha I feel you on that...Area directors, intake coordinators, grad advisors around and you unknowingly answering questions in a tense tone, a grit on your face and refusing to look anyone in the eyes..haha...When you deep in the mix, it got hard to remember when to turn "it" off at times. Happened to the best of us...

Buahahahahahahahahahaha! I remember when we were going through MIP, they were like act like you don't know anything, and it was kinda hard. Some things we just automatically fell into cause we were use to it. But grad. was cool

I actually witnessed an aspirant say "Yes Big Brother" when he was asked a question during MIP. The Brothers in that UG chapter had a "Oh hell, we're screwed" look on their face...lol. You could tell he answered that way out of habit.

Years and Years ago, in that same circumsatnce, we had an Ace say that and in the same session, the tail of that line made a quick and prompt move to cover his neck when one of the older area bros that held a position happend to walk behind him. Me and some other bros gave each other an immediate look like "Dag..and we were so close to graduating" LOL..hahaha

It took me a while to remember that I did not need to keep up with all of my sands. I would see one of them on campus and be in a panic, askin..."where were you?" We were responsible for knowing where everyone was when we were on line. If a big sister asked where ivy so and so was, you had to know. We lied a lot though, if we didn't know. It also took a while to get used to getting love from the prophytes, I would kind of look at them sideways, thinking they were just trying to throw us off balance. It took about a month before I was really comfortable in my AKA'ness.
