I was reading a post on "when does one begin to 'grow' and understand an organizations purpose." Question... Once one has "grown" is loyalty or leadership more important in an organization?
I've pondered this question hundreds of times and as I read various posts and responses, I look at how BGLO's, in our communities, impact us. How we look, think, feel, and respond to what the nature of our civic duty means to people.
Leadership is NOT to be taken lightly. It is a call most BGLO's have to answer. Some of our college campuses have been ruined because of their ideology of what they believe our history teaches us about being leaders. Did our foremothers and fathers ever think that 100 years later 'we would be able to educate ourselves to believe that we are more than deaf chattel? Yes,they did! Because they believe that our people had the capacity to stick together and lead the way.
One may ask, is loyalty leadership? Yes, I say because in order to lead you must be virtuous, commited, and have the capability of saying yes I am a follower....a team player but no I won't settle and sacrifice my position for the err of man.
Personally, I think that loyalty begets leadership.....Or could be the other way around what do you think?

Good Post What........
If I may add though, blind loyalty to an organization is not good leadership. We (BGLO's) tend to teach that we should be loyal to a point of being blind. One must be loyal to the IDEAS of our org and be loyal those we are there to serve.
Too often we become loyal to a chapter or the fraternity/sorority practices and not necessarily the organizations mission, core message or the people we are to serve and lead.
If you're going to LEAD them you have to first LOVE them and if you want to help SAVE them, you must first SERVE them.
THAT is the REAL message our organizations represent (at least it is for Alpha) and while im not one to say that our organizations were founded on Christian principles, that sounds pretty Christ-like to me........

So why do you tink people have chapter loyalty over sorority/fraternity leadership holistically?

So why do you tink people have chapter loyalty over sorority/fraternity leadership holistically? Definately. When you don't feel like you are connected to the greater organization then people tend to close ranks and tighten up with each other.

Someone needs to invent something called an anti-bump. Where you can make a post that makes a thread go to the bottom of the stack.
