For those who are already Greek, is there anything that could have made you lose interest in your organization while you were pursuing? For the aspirants, is there anything that could make you change your mind?

Nothing that I know of and yes I have researched the Christians in BGLOs warnings and errthing...I guess though with having kids if financially it became a conflict then obviously my kids come first but other than that I can't think of anything...

I can't think of much that would have made me lose interest. If I visited 5 different chapters, and all 5 were doing things like sacrificing goats in chapter meetings or some stuff like that, then I would have thought "Yall niggas are crazy" and left it alone.

So far the chapters have been pretty similar aside from age differences...

What about repeated rejections? I don't think this will be a problem for any of the aspirants here, but hypothetically, is there a point at which you would just give up? I know some people who have been rejected 3 times and more and are still trying. I admire that...because I really don't know if I'd try more than 3 times. The exception to that would be if I knew the reason and it was something I could approve upon. But if I'm being rejected with no explanation and I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'd eventually decide its their loss.

I don't know...as long as I thought I still had a viable chance then I would keep going and try again...if the rejection made me feel defeated, with no hope then that may be different...I must say though even when things don't work in my favor, I can't ever remember feeling defeated...I adapt well in most situations and I have had life changing, earth shattering situations that I have had to deal with and have did so with strength, poise and grace...PRAISE THE LORD

Not in the organization but maybe a particual chapter. Agreed! I have found out that not all Sorors are "Sisterly". And that's fine, but I will continued to be!

I am an aspirant that has been rejected twice while trying in undergrad. As of now the only thing that would make me stop trying was something that was family related.

I was told that they were both because of who wrote my letter. I really don't understand that because she was very popular and active on campus and her parents are well known in the community.

I know someone who tried several times during undergrad. I mean, she was the "Super IG," but the chapter didn't like her, I guess. I know from my interactions with her that she has the tendency to rub people the wrong way, so maybe that's what it was.
As fat as I know, she still wants to be a member!
I know someone else who came to college wanting to be one thing, but soon became disenchanted with orgs and the political wrangling and decided to pursue something else after graduation.

I would have to say..the chapter would have to have a very bad reputation for someone not to join, and even then if a person was really interested they could just look for another chapter in the area.
Some things that would make a person lose interest: ~The chapter not keeping interest informed.
~Members do not represent themselves in a positive light
~Being rejected over some petty mess.

Make me lose interest while pursuing? Naw. If I saw something from the chapter that I didn't like I'd probably just have pursued elsewhere.

If I had found out that there WAS a true conflict between my Christian beliefs and the org--for example, if the rituals said something like, "XYZ, we worship you. You are our god" or some craziness like that, I would have NEVER become a member.

I would lose interest if I thought that the organization was just partying and not uplifting the community.

I think actually meeting and talking with members, and learning about each group can make one more interesting than another. Through actual interaction (or lack thereof) you can easily lose interest. Also by educating yourself (which was my case)...I stopped relying on a school daze view of greek life, and started to try to understand what each group meant.
