this is just a brief part of the communication...
Delta followed the same approach for this year’s conference, which concluded today. Given that the economic crisis facing our country and the international turmoil have had a severe impact on our members and their families, the members wanted to hear from the presidential candidates. Delta thus extended an invitation to all major candidates from both parties. Only Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton accepted the invitation. The way the media reported the story, some members have inferred that Delta’s invitation to Senator Clinton is as an endorsement of her candidacy. Delta does not endorse candidates for political office; it has not endorsed Senator Clinton; and, it will not endorse any candidate. Dr. Louise A. Rice, who speaks for the organization, set the tone for the conference by stating: “As we examine and participate in the 2008 Presidential Election, we must remember not to be influenced by partisan issues and politicians, but rather by issues impacting all people, especially those that we serve.” Focusing on the community we serve remains Delta’s objective.
