I often feel like an outsider at work because I do not over react to every little thing like my co-workers do. Recent example, the battery was draining in the door chime so someone turned the chime off. Unbeknown to most of the people in the office that person must have taken the battery out and trashed it (no recycling here unless it is paper). No one really cared about it until today when my boss wanted to buy a new battery and wanted to take the old battery with him so that he can compare the size in the store.
Suddenly the office is up and running with rumors about who took the battery, when, why…etc. I did not need a 5 min chat about a door chime battery. Everyone expected me to care (while I’m in the middle of cross checking payroll numbers).
I’ll bet next week if they didn’t get a check they don’t want to know it is because I was distracted by a door chime battery.
So after they stood around for 15 mins and tried to figure out who took the battery, they stood around another 5 mins to discuss who was going to buy a new one.
And I the odd one out went about my day doing my work and trying to block out their conversation

Dear Queen,
I didn't want to say anything before but the other day when I walked past your desk I saw a battery in your trash can. I just assumed YOU took the battery out of the chime since it was in your trash can. I didn't say anything because to me it wasn't a big deal. But on the other hand we do need a chime for that door and with out it having one battery it is impossible for it to work. Being that the old battery was in your trash can just didn't look right. You do have to admit. BTW I asked Susan if she saw that old battery in your trash can. She said SHE didn't but Eric did sooooo.... We all thought YOU were going to replace the battery.
