I have heard many people say he has taken the black vote for granted. I am not sure I agree with that. Now more than ever we have to support him. I think we are taking his re-election for granted. I think a lot of the shock and joy of having our first black president has partially worn off and some feel like we don't need to put in as much work. The truth is he is up against a lot of money. It is an uphill battle. Also, he has to continue to appeal to a larger constituency. Not that he has to deny his heritage but I can understand his choice. I am (not so) secretly hoping he makes his second inaugural speech with a small, neat fro complete with a black power pick while dressed in a black turtle neck, black leather jacket, and Africa medallion.

I think it was one of those "hey Bro we know you got us, you don't have to come" things. Perhaps the NAACP knew he wasn't coming but the masses of "US" and the media did not. That's cool with me, I'm ok with it. But it surely throwed a lot of people off though...lol. Why DOES he have to show up any way? I mean does it mean he don't support the NAACP's agenda, believes and goals? No, no it doesn't. Once the media got a hold of his missed presence they jumped ALL over it and road it to the ground. JUST like they did when he was NOT wearing a U.S. lapel pin. Does that mean he is unpatriotic? Surely not.

Me'h. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. He's a Black President, not the President for the Blacks. He has to represent everyone and make sure he's spreading himself around equally. He's' campaigning, dealing with Trayvon, Aurora, CO, Al Queda and all kinds of stuff. He can't be everywhere. Plus he did speak a the Urban League convention.
