Last week, while attending a social function, the conversation of a rally for Trayvon began to swell. It took place over two days where I'm posted...
On Monday, the preparations for the rally took place at our local Urban League. I attended and was very upset about the purpose of the rally. Don't get me twisted...I understood the premise. What I didn't understand was the purpose.
A rally? Were we going to pass the hat and send some supporting funds for the Martin family? Are we allocating any resources to send to Sanford,Fl.? No to all of those questions....Which brought me to this....
I wonder, both to myself and aloud, if Trayvon Martin had lived with both his mother and father in Miami, would he had been suspended from school for ten days for allegedly having weed in his school backpack?
If he didn't live some 300 miles or so from his father, would he be alive in Miami today?
Is the POSSIBILITY of Trayvon living today higher if he didn't come from a broken home? Is he living today if more of our black marriages didn't end in divorce? Is he living today if his father lived with Trayvon?
George Zimmerman should rot in hell. But are we talking about George Zimmerman if Trayvon had his father around fulltime?
We are outraged by the murder of yet another young black boy dying. This time at the hands of a white man (Hispanic is a culture, not a race). Yet black boys are dying EVERYDAY by murder.
