What happened to Zagat reveiws?
Is is the down economy?...oh my god.
I walked into a Subway restaurant today to get a sandwhich and noticed a Zagat reveiwed sticker on their door...
I was so stumped, that when I returned to my office, I called a local steakhouse that's really popular in this town. I asked about thier latest Zagat review and they replied by stating " We only refer our customers to local and regional chef reviews." We have not requested a Zagat reveiw in 5 years"....wow. So I asked why and they gave me cryptic bullshyt that I still can't process.
Anyone familiar with this?

A LOT of places still hold Zagat reviews in high regard. However, with the advent of food/wine blogs and such it's kinda not worth the hassle to request Zagat reviews anymore. You can get more relateable people who are more familiar with a given market and a given clietnele to give reviews in terms that potential customers will actually understand and value. If a steakhouse has a zagat rating of 4.3, that means almost nothing to the average customer. But if their favorite blogger gave detailed reviews of multiple popular dishes, that could actually make you a believer. Nahmean?

I eat what I like to eat, where I like to eat. I do, admittedly, fine dine, but I could care one muthafuckin' rats ass about a Zagat rating.... That's for white folks so they can sound like food aficianado's and shit like that. But don't you find a Zagat rating at a Subway, odd though?

I was familiar with what Zagat was, but never really followed it. The only reviews that I ever really pay attention usually are on Amazon.com and that's usually when I'm about to make an internet purchase. For food, I'm usually content with "let's try it and see".
