Not sure if we're gonna remain serious or not, but while we're here I'll bite. In many cases of sexually and/or domestically abuse, a lot victims DO choose some form of self alteration. It isn't always a surgical procedure as many turn to eating more to gain weight in order to appear (in their minds) less appealing/attractive. Some go the other way and develop anorexic tendencies. Some even turn to self mutilation. Could these changes not be considered self alteration? Relationship trauma? Babe, I can write a best seller on that topic. Did that mean I wanted to "alter" myself. Surprisingly, yes. I did. But not in an unhealthy way. I chose to alter myself for my health, my peace of mind, and my future. Not because that crazy mo-fo ruined what could have been the best thing in his life. Ever. |
