Have you guys noticed that since Jennifer Hudson sang her way to skinny for Weight Watchers other celebs are jumping on the band wagon? Janet Jackson is promoting Nutri System, Mariah is singing for Jenny Craig. Who is next?

I was just tweeting about this yesterday. Janet KNOWS she needs more people with that nutrisystem ish. First of all, Janet Jackson has been in the public eye her entire life (and mine). We have always known what she looked like, so I'm not clear on these "past weight struggles" she laments.
Further, Janet Jackson got work as a fetus. I'm sure she hasn't grossed less than 5 million annually at any point in her career. If she feels that she is overweight (she is not), she does NOT have to stay that way. Janet Jackson can literally hire Wolfgang Puck, Emeril Legassi and G. Garvin to take turns cooking nutritious starvation meals daily. Additionally, I'm sure that Billy Blanks AND Shaun T would be most willing to remain on fitness call in exchange for 3 squares and an aero bed a-piece. Indeed, Janet probably has her own subsidized tenant farm from which she harvests pesticide free produce at her whim. And I'm supposed to believe that she pops a $20 bottle of pills in search of happiness in life? C'mon son.

And Mariah can get all the way the eff outta here. Rockin a body stocking in that commercial. Try to find a bellybutton on that jawn, betcha can't. Why? Cause her midsection is covered in a thick layer of nylon. I CANNOT believe they insulted potential consumers with that. Peep: bellydancingdirect.com/shop.html

ah, the age old plus/healthy debate. I agree that you can be above your "normal" BMI and still have normal blood pressure, cholesterol and organ function. Howbesoever, I cannot agree that there is anything remotely healthy about obesity. It is true that a thinner person is not necessarily healthier than a larger one. But even with all that said, I must agree that a person carrying 50 extra pounds of fat is not operating anywhere near the optimum version of herself.
Now that I have become more interested in nutrition and fitness, I do wish that more people did not consider healthy living to be optional.

As I said about Jennifer's sponsor, they are looking for the next hot spokesperson to hype the product. They expect us to feel some kinda way about Janet in the wake of losing Michael. (old news) Janet does not need he money, Nutri System needs Janet to compete with J Hud and Mariah. A fight to the finish

and
Im saying this..Im considered to be obesed but Ive always been plus sized snd healthy..active and all..I do pilates because Ive found within the past 5 or 6 years Ive gotten bigger and I wsnt kids sooo its a no go for me to get bigger and bigger. My frame will not fit a size 2 and I dont want it to. My cousin age 40 size 4 has every dysfunction she at her size is suppose to be healthy but eh she not.

Yeah, I definitely understand that smaller is not necessarily better. As well, there are other factors like vanity and preference.
To be perfectly honest, at 5 feet, 10 inches tall, I have NO desire to weigh 150 pounds. Because of my cultural norms, I don't care for how that would look. But, because I am young and otherwise healthy, I can't deny that I'd be even better off if I weren't carrying around this extra. Indeed, according to BMI calculations, I would actually need to lose 58 pounds to be considered "normal." 58?! Eff that. Still though, I can only imagine how much more fit I could be if I weren't plus/healthy instead of just regular healthy.

I am happy that JHud got the weight watchers deal, however its becoming very "tired" . Message overkill!
In general, how many of these female celebrities lost weight the "natural" way? I have my doubts.

Ummmmm...Janet has never been small by nature. See any video from the Control album (except Pleasure Principle) for reference...specifically, "When I Think of You." She was also a little chubby when she was on (I think) Dinah Shore as a little girl w/ her brothers. And we've all seen the Janet a few years ago after she gained weight "for a movie role." First of all, Janet Jackson has been in the public eye her entire life (and mine). We have always known what she looked like, so I'm not clear on these "past weight struggles" she laments.

Ok, yeah I said I wasn't clear on the "struggle" aspect. I've seen her fluctuate over the years, yes. But I never considered her to be "big" just bigger than before or whatever.

I have my doubts. I can't speak for the other weight loss systems/diets/etc but there's nothing unnatural about Weight Watchers. Weight watchers counts points (which are made of fat, fiber, carbs and protein), it's about portion control, including more fruits and veges, including activity and eating less junk. It's the same stuff a doctor, dietitian or nutritionist will tell you. It's not much different from someone that counts calories.

I used to think that way but now I know I was just telling myself to make myself feel better. And being overweight/obese and healthy might be possible when you're younger but that is eventually going to catch up with you. Carrying extra weight in your 20s and maybe even early 30s is not the same as carrying extra weight in your 40s or 50s. Your body and health WILL eventually let you know.
