Ok. SO as most of you all know, I am newly engaged. Despite the infantile timeline between the proposal and now be it known that I have damn near everything figured out. The first thing that was decided was the fact that I will not be having a large wedding but I am dying to have a huge reception.
As corny and "cliche" as it may sound, I want to get married at Niagara Falls. Like literally, on the cliff where all my photos will have the falls in the background. This WILL happen.
The reception, however, will be here in New Orleans a couple days later. (SO it'll be wedding >>> honeymoon>>>reception/celebration of love >>>homecoming) As you all also know, I have no family here in New Orleans. Neither does my fiance' as he is from Mississippi. So that's the background info.
Now to my problem, as stated before, I want a small wedding, large reception. When I say small I mean My mommy, my 2 blood sisters, and 3 friends. He will have his mother, brother, and sister, and a couple of his masonic brothers. So maybe 12 total in Niagara Falls but the upper end of 150>175 in New Orleans. HOW THE HELL do I say "I'm getting married! I don't want you at my wedding but feel free to come to the reception 3 days later!" without making people feel disrespected in the Save The Dates/Invitations??? Should I just not use the terms wedding and reception in them? Maybe "You Are Invited to our Celebration of LOVE" (
