So I watched the movie over the weekend about the rise and fall or Dr. Jack Kevorkian. What are your thoughts on Euthanasia (mercy killings, assisted suicide etc...)?

My thoughts: taking one's own life is suicide. Purposely taking the life of another (regardless of the circumstances) is murder. Both are very serious sins for which the perpetrator will be judged (perhaps for eternity). However, a person can eventually repent for having committed murder. It doesn't seem that a committer of suicide can avail himself of such an opportunity.

Hmmm. (speaking on my behalf only) If I am terminally ill I want someone to help me prevent further pain and suffering. I for one will not take my own life though.

I agree with this. On the flip side, despite my spiritual beliefs, my personal experiences make me feel some kind of way about outside parties determining whether this is right or wrong for you. After watching loved ones die degrading, painful deaths, or just mentally & physically deteriorate to the point where they are a shell of themselves, I just don't feel its anybody's else's place to decide whether they have the right to end their own pain. If they're willing to deal with the spiritual ramifications, who are we to say they can't? My thoughts: taking one's own life is suicide. Purposely taking the life of another (regardless of the circumstances) is murder. Both are very serious sins for which the perpetrator will be judged (perhaps for eternity).

My interpretation from the Bible, is it is a sin that God will not forgive, therefore, I will go to hell. I have STRONG feelings against suicide but STRONGER feelings for euthanasia. I do understand that life belongs to God and it is never our place to take our own or someone else's life. However, watching my grandmother suffer painfully on her death bed requesting us to let her die, don't try anymore extreme measures, stop medicating her, I can't help but want to give in to her requests and if I were in the same position I would want the same. I'm torn because the hellish feelings I and others may feel on Earth are nothing compared to the hell we may eternally experience for this sin.

So do any of you feel that Euthanasia (mercy killings, assisted suicide etc...) can be compared with making the decision to "pull the plug?"
