The subject of single vs dating/relationship has come up in my conversations a lot lately, probably stemming from the fact that right now I'm not really into it. According to my peers, my views on dating are unrealistic. Possibly so, but still...
Anywho, what are your ideals when it comes to dating and mating?

it's an ever fluid list or at least the acceptable proportions of certain qualities...
Spiritual Funny Handsome Assertive Attentive Child-free (or no more than 2 over age 5 with an ex) Fiscally responsible and productive
I haven't found this list to be unrealistic even at nearly 40 but that may be a function of where I live. I can find all this but ya gotta have chemistry which is a lil harder to pinpont.

those are on my list as well.
My thing is I'm a combination of old fashioned and prudish. While being spontanous is sometimes cool, don't call me Saturday morning looking to hook up saturday night. Plan ahead. Give me something to look forward to through the week.
Don't call or text to say "I'm outside." Turn of the engine, get out, and knock on the door.
Be creative. Think outside the norm. Find out what I like and center our date around it. Let's walk through a museum, the aquarium, the park, take in an outdoor concert, have a picnic, etc.
Am I asking for too much here? Seriously, am I?

Seriously, am I? nothing you've mentioned seems excessive to me. I've accepted same day dates and had a fabulous time (don't make it a habit though). Is it too late to add good personal hygiene? Don't know how I left that off the list (though it shouldn't even need saying)

it's never too late for that. lol
the people I was talking to made it seem like I was trying to have the fairy tale/romantic comedy type dating life/relationship. Meybe it's a Memphis thing but they all seem to be willing to settle for far less than they should get. Now I'll compromise on a few things, but I won't lower my standards just to have a date.

THIS!!! LOL I will date anyone I'm not too shallow to be seen out in public with. I'm adventurous...and still quite young so I have time to waste on random guys. That sounds mean but it's the truth. ETA: When I say date I mean date in the simplest form. None of that "going steady" crap other people used to do back in the 1900s (teehee). No exclusiveness, just random occurrences of basking in each others presence.
