Why is everyone completely shocked with the “home alone” face that a 32 year old member of an Org would be present? So nobody here that pledged undergrad ever had old heads from your chapter come to see you at set? Even if you went grad and pledged, no one over 29 ever came to see you at set? For real? Well, here’s a quick dose of reality. Whether old heads actually participate in set or just observe from the sideline, this is not that odd at all. Really, it’s not. Now, it may not seem prudent in many eyes, but in plenty of undergrad chapters (mine and several I know in and out of my Frat), a Dean and chapter won’t even cross a line until they’ve seen old school in some form or fashion. Yes, some old heads do come and give out work, others will just teach history, and some will just give a line the “eyeball test” to gauge where they’re at. Other old heads will quickly decline to come out altogether. But usually old school will at least be afforded the opportunity, out of respect, to come and get to know the young men that are attempting to pass through their chapter. That said - I’m not saying that it’s common place for old heads to be “knee deep” involved in a process as in every night. I’m also not saying that an old head with plenty to lose (family, career, public profile, etc) shouldn’t use discernment in what activities they partake in. Those are individual decisions one must make as everyone knows the risks involved. But again, I’m just saying that older members (let’s say 30 and up) visiting in a set environment is not that farfetched at all. Happens all the time…. Same thing i was thinking. 30+ bros are a Godsend. It's a check and balance system for one. Another, why wouldn't old heads from your chapter see you at least once? Or at least be involved to make sure noone does shit over the top, or do some or teach some off the wall shit. It's not just a frat thing neither. I know alot of sororities that really get bizzy have they old heads heavily involved or even running the show. For those saying they shocked that someone over 30 at set, you really showing your ink on ya hands.

Er, uh, no. Don't assume mister. Different things for different regions and different chapters. If one travels, one knows this.

I didn't see anyone say they were shocked. I surely wasn't shocked and it's never a surprise but that doesn't mean you aren't too damn old. But if going to UG stuff like that floats your boat at 32 then so be it, LOL.

I agree with the sentiment about some of you being surprised Old Heads were around. That's pretty normal I thought? That said I guess I just have to go along with the recent sentiment that today is a New Day in Greek Life. You just have to do things a certain way now. That isn't to say that the "new process" is weak compared to the old. Just that with today's spotlight on pledging and the sheer amount of knuckleheads in our orgs we are better off just being more prudent about what we do. It's downright amazing how many people do not know that there IS a difference between pledging and hazing.
