How does one define "good?"

so, you guys think that when someone dies they automatically go to heaven or hell? If so, how does that tie in with what you believe is the purpose of Judgement Day?

I'd like to say all "good" people go to heaven, and all "bad" people don't, but I doubt in God's eyes its that black and white. Is a former drug dealer and killer who finds religion in the last years of his life straight with God enough to get there, even though the last few years of good in his life don't outweigh all the wrong? I have no idea. All I can do is ask for forgiveness for my wrongs, and hope God will find enough room for me.

How does one define "good?" Good - to me means you try to live life in accordance with God's will.

All religions seem to have an example to follow:
Christianity has Jesus... Jews have Abraham... Muslims have Muhammad... Buddhism has Buddha...
These men have lived on this earth and to the best of written record strived to live to the Will of God! IMO, those who strive to live life in a moral and humble fashion have a reward in the life after this. Even those who do not live righteously have a place which will fit their deeds. But only God has the ability to judge. To try and guess is to attempt to be "God-like", and that is an impossible feat!

^^ I agree. I don't know what will happen to me that is up for GOD to determine. All I can do is attempt to do my best to follow his commands.
Do I believe in GOD and Jesus... Yes. Am I saved...Yes. Am I Sinless...No. All I can do is try to sin less and leave the rest up to him when he gets ready to determine my fate.

There is none good, no not one. All of "our" righteousness is as filthy rags. If you practice sin, you have never known God. When God saves, you will not "practice" sin.

I guess you don't know God then, because we all fall short of the glory of God. We all are sinners, regardless if we knowingly commit sin or not. SMH.

That was his point. Those of us who sin (which is all of us) cannot truly "know" God.

That was his point. Those of us who sin (which is all of us) cannot truly "know" God. So as I said, based off that idea, HE does not know God, which is interesting seeing how he judges everyone who doesn't have a religious belief like his.

so, you guys think that when someone dies they automatically go to heaven or hell? If so, how does that tie in with what you believe is the purpose of Judgement Day? No I don't think we automatically go. I think there is a place, kind of like a waiting room. Then on judgement day you will come before Him and he will find your name and direct you where you go. I am not well versed in the bible but that is just my interpretation.

Ok my co-worker explain it to me like this:
1)When we die we will automatically go to heaven if saved and hell if not (this is what confuses me so if I sin and keep sinning I still get to go to heaven...she said yes)
2) Judgement day is the day that God will come and all the people on earth that have not passed will be judge and either go to heaven or hell.

We go to the same church but she is more knowledgeable that I. Yes kind of because they have to be judged at some point and I don't think an earthly person's fate is decided until judgement day. I take it as your sould and body will meet together in either heaven or hell after judgement day. www.insearchoftruth.org/articles/judgement.html
