^ Not necessarily he may still qualify if passed. It just says he has to have Good Moral Character (http://fpc.state.gov/documents/organization/78335.pdf) ; says nothing about having a clean background just states they need to pass a background check. If the warrant for tickets was not a felony it should be ok. dreamact.info/node/5262He could be disqualified if the penalty for driving without a license or a failure to appear carries a POTENTIAL jail term of 90 days or more. I'm not sure I like that but then again, i'm not sure the members actually read this. A lot of legislation is written by think tanks and policy shops, shelved, and hopefully (for the shops) one day needed and pulled off the shelf. This looks like one of those pieces of legislation.

FYI: I'm looking @ DREAM qualifications in terms of removability/deportability. In other words, if you can be deported for an offense under the present system, I'm comfortable assuming at law that it would knock you out of the running for DREAM coverage. Shrugs. If you can get deported for not paying child support, I'm guessing repeat offense of a misdemeanor won't bode well.

know what? These were too harsh. My bad. #pleasantries and yours appear to based, at least in part, on wholesale anti-immigrant propaganda (as illuminated by your citation of mnforsustain and usillegalaliens.com; both notorious propaganda mongers). I'll never beef with anybody about how they feel, so long as it is actually how they feel. If, however, someone is simply spewing hate-lobby talking points without any objective citation, I don't mind pointing out the abundant logical fallacies in their "argument"

Sometimes discussions or debates can get diffcult we get real serious when talking about things that we have a passion for. It's cool. I DID have to break out a dictionary and encyclopedia a couple of times Lol

www.thegrio.com/specials/the-ygb/mario-perez-in-defense-of-the-dream-act.php#This is the story of Brother Mario Perez...he is facing deportation and is the perfect example of why the DREAM Act is good legislation. For those of you with ADD, i'll summarize... Mario Perez, Junior math major at Stephen F Austin University in Texas. Born in Mexico but brought to the United States when he was five years old. The semester before graduation he is pulled over on a traffic stop and eventually detained by ICE and transported to Houston for processing. He faces a deportation hearing in March. Thoughts.... I'm late to the party, check your PM.

not for nothing, the guy in Cam's example would not have been protected under the DREAM act anyway. I'm not actually sure why he was used in the first place, lol. It's like d9 orgs offering amnesty for renegades. You only think it's a good idea if you're willing to accept that the renegade's situation is not his fault. This statement is funnier and more applicable than you could ever know.

I guess you're right. This is just an internet site, not a college classroom. Therefore, I suppose there's no need to back properly back up your claims in this forum. To that end, however, expect assertions based summarily on your anecdotal experience to be wholly disregarded by people who are actually informed on the subject. Still...if that's how you feel, I won't try take it away from you. This ish right here, really!

I know two people who are doing it the right way. One got his citizenship last week. He was so happy and proud. Now he has a city job with great benefits. The other, must wait 4 more years, has to endure a scathing background check just to get a job, but yet still holds on. That is the American Dream. You know what that guy said, "people here take things for granted". With that said, under the circumstances, he knew he was illegal, he should have started taking the proper steps to become legal, instead of waiting for some potential problem to occur. If his frat brothers knew he wasn't legal, they had an obligation to help him then, not keep it a secret, and hope for the best. Experience is the only school a fool can learn in and no other. I speak this to the shame of his frat brothers. Ones he thinks are so great. I had a family member get pulled for a busted tail light a month ago, and was knowingly driving without a license and spent two weeks in jail, before he could get bailed out. They should not have been driving!!!!!!!!! If I were to do anything for this guy, it would be to assure him of one thing; that I would have his teachers compile all of the work he needed to complete, allow him to finish it wherever he is, and once his grades were complete, he would receive his college degree. Upon doing so, he would face justice, there would be a thorough investigation into his background, serve any time as probation, be given a green card and be permitted to work and live in the U.S. and apply for citizenship. I would also punish any institution that broke laws and enabled this illegal behavior to flourish. About "WE" allowing illegal immigration, you can take me out of that "WE". Side Note: So the fraternity is initiating illegals now? ?? LOL!!!! No diss to Mario! He seems to be a stand up guy in an unfortunate circumstance. He unfortunately couldn't trust the government to reveal the truth to them. But I do not blame him for not trusting the gov't either. But he took his chances and now must face up to it.
