COLUMBIA, S.C. - Barack Obama routed Hillary Rodham Clinton in the racially charged South Carolina primary Saturday night, regaining campaign momentum in the prelude to a Feb. 5 coast-to-coast competition for more than 1,600 Democratic National Convention delegates.
"The choice in this election is not about regions or religions or genders," Obama said at a boisterous victory rally. "It's not about rich versus poor, young versus old and it's not about black versus white. It's about the past versus the future."

Honestly I don't know... I'll have a better idea once I get a chance to help out on the campaign.

I saw that Ted Kennedy is endorsing Obama...what impact do you think this will have?

The pundits have made a big deal about it. For the Democratic Nomination it is perhaps... it's been hinted that the Clintons were heavily courting that endorsement going into Super Tuesday. On an election front, honestly I don't think it really helps Obama that much. Conservatives (and some independents) regard Kennedy as an old school spend and tax liberal - that message doesn't play well in "Red Country". For the election (if he wins the nomination) he's going to want to position himself more towards the center to win independents and steal a few Republicans (if possible). Democrats are generally energized about this election while Republicans (with an never ending war, bad economy, depressed real estate economy, lack of conservatives that they truly feel embody their party) are less energetic (this can be seen in the primaries).
I don't think Republicans are going to cross the party lines in masses to vote for Obama (phenomena like Clinton Republicans or Reagan Democrats) but if they're disenchanted enough to stay at home instead of voting , that's an advantage to whoever's the Democratic nominee.
I hate to pick on Hillary, because she truly did not create all this hate towards her, alot of it has been manufactured by people like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, but Hillary as the nominee could likely ignite the Conservative base and send them to the polls
