October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Please join the Alpha and Beta e-Chapters of Omega Omicron E-Sorority, Inc. as we e-educate women (and men) about the importance of education and early detection.
Join us on Thursday, October 14, 2010 for PassiOOnately Pink. This informative e-program is dedicated to creating awareness about breast cancer. Medical experts will be on hand to discuss advancements in research and breast cancer statistics; share tips about living a healthy lifestyle; and answer your questions. Breast cancers survivors will share their courageous and inspirational e-stories. We’ll also be showing a video and distributing educational materials and pamphlets, pink ribbons, bags and buttons to help you show your support for the cause.
More and more women are getting mammograms to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. As a result, breast cancer deaths are on the decline. To support this effort, and show our commitment to being PassiOOnately Pink, Omega Omicron has partnered with Hazerville Hospital to offer free mammograms for uninsured women in the e-community. Please encourage the e-women in your life to stop by on Thursday and to continue to get mammograms on a regular basis.
Date: Thursday, October 14, 2010 Time: 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (EDT) Location: OnOlympus Campus Center
This event is free and open to the e-public. The entire OOA e-community is invited and encouraged to attend.
We hope to see you there!

On behalf of Omega Omicron E-Sorority, Inc. I would like to thank you all for coming. What a wonderful program! *Leads applause* We are so blessed and thankful to have such wonderful speakers and guests today. Please join me in showing our appreciate. We thank you for your courage and for giving your time and talents here today. *everybody claps and cheers*
Currently, there are 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the US. The number of deaths from breast cancer continues to decline, probably due to early detection and prevention steps and better treatments. However, unfortunately, breast cancer is expected to cause approximately 40,000 deaths in this country in 2010.
Too many women are not taking advantage of early detection, not getting screenings and not having clinical breast exams at regular intervals. That must change. We must all take part in reaching out to those women. We can save lives simply by encouraging the women in our lives to get mammograms on a regular basis.
If all women age 40 and older took advantage of early detection methods — mammography plus clinical breast exam — breast cancer death rates would drop much further, up to 30 percent, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. And you don't have to wait until 40... most insurance companies cover mammograms for women beginning at age 35. So share the message, not only in October, but all year long.
We challenge you to educate yourself. We challenge you to educate others. We ask you to do what you can. We ask you to care. For your mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, girlfriends and daughters, we ask you to keep up the fight to eliminate breast cancer and spread a message of hope. We can make a difference!
And for those of you who have been touched by the disease, we salute you! We encourage you to stay strong, stay optimistic and stay committed to winning the battle. We are with you. We are Passionately Pink. We will win!
This concludes our program. We have refreshments in the back and all of our invited guests are available to chat with you one-on-one. Please take a moment to fellowship them, as well as with OO e-sorors and workshop particiants. Again, thank you for coming!
