The NBA season is reaching its halfway point...who do you like so far? Who are the surprises and disappointments? Who are your favorites for the NBA Finals?
I like what Boston has done and I'm not surprised at all. I knew adding Garnett and Ray Allen and playing in the weak East could equal the #1 seed for them. However...call me crazy but I'm picking Cleveland to win the East again. #23 for the Cavs has no answer.
In the West, the Lakers, Portland, and New Orleans are all surprising. The Lakers center Andrew Bynum is out for a couple of months...but if he returns to form in time I think the Lakers will be favorites along with San Antonio to go to the finals.
I'll be watching the Lakers vs. San Antonio tonight on ESPN...should be interesting.

Nawlans! (New Orleans)
Chris Paul is the next Isaiah and they're one player away from being championship caliber. And Portland is doing their thing! Especially since Oden is out for the year.
A couple of Black coaches are really shining. 1. Doc Rivers (best record) 2. Nate McMillan (killing without Oden) 3. Byron Scott (Killing... period)
Other than that, the Heat suck, Boston is a tad overrated, they'll be exposed in the playoffs since they can't play D and the Knicks are surprisingly good due to the departure of Starbury.

Jay you can't say the knicks are good....I know they are your team but come on man. They are better than they have shown earlier in the season but are still good and terrible. Sorry man. LOL

Jay, I like Boston's defense. What I don't like is the fact that Paul Pierce is the go-to guy in close games. I think it should be Garnett, but the knock on him has been that he doesn't have the personality and killer instinct to be the man. I honestly don't think Portland is gonna even make the playoffs. They are doing well so far however.

That was a great game last night.
The Spurs (the most COMPLETE team in the league) will do what they always do....take it up another level come playoff time.
They're likely to be hanging yet another banner in the AT&T Center after this season.

I'm going for the CELTICS!
I've always been a big fan of Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.
Golden State Warriors are a team I'm rooting for too.
Doing the fantasy stuff though has taken my focus off of teams and more on players.

Unfortunately for Larry Harris and Isiah....the trade machine doesn't evaluate talent for talent. Just money....lol
I could just hear Ace saying it now....."Fvck Larry Harris". LMAO

Lebron went crazy and beat Portland by himself last night. Outstanding performance...

Is it finally time to admit he's BETTER than Kobe and that he's hands down the King? I think so

Oh and to back up a couple posts as much as I LOVE the Hornets...they're bench is SHALLOW. In the playoffs that will NOT bode well for them. And I stand by my statement about Boston's D, (or lack thereof). Paul Pierce is now and has been for some time now, a defensive liability. Caron Butler dismantled him so bad the other night, by so effortlessly driving by him at will I was embarrassed for him. Ray Allen is ok, defensively, Rondo is aight too and KG is solid. Even IF and this is a big if the Celts get the first seed (which I doubt cuz the Pistons are a machine) I still don't see them getting to the eastern conference finals. If they go against the Cavs...Lebrezee would have 50 every night...lol

Jay, Boston ranks first in almost every defensive category in the league man! Their team D is better than the sum of the individual parts. They lose alot when Garnett is out, so its not surprising to see people going off on them. I think they are basically guaranteed the 1 seed. Detroit hasn't been motivated since Larry Brown left. Boston has a 6 or 7 game lead on Detroit at the halfway point. They are what...35-8? And its mainly because of their defense because they really aren't a great scoring team.

<====Goes to do research <====Admittedly hates on the Celts (and anything else from the New England area for that matter). <====Is sticking with his statement lol...you MIGHT have a point... I just don't see them being a solid playoff team... shallow bench...IMO shaky d and sub-par point guard play leave them out if you ask me.

I sensed the hate! LOL! I agree with you about the playoffs, however. I'd take Cleveland or Detroit over Boston in a series.

I couldn't hide it but for so long....lol.
With the trade deadline coming up, here's my take on the moves that need to be made.
IMO the following teams NEED to add to their team before the trade deadline. 1. Cavs- Already great with Lebron...but they're missing a piece to actually WIN the chip. 2. Hornets- NO BENCH...they have to add some solid role players that can come off the bench and give them some quality play...their only players coming off giving them productin are Pargo and old man Bobby Jackson. 3. Wizards- TRADE GILBERT ARENAS and get a SOLID big man and a legit Point Guard. Caron and Jameson are more than enough of a one two punch offensively and now they need to build. Arenas is going to have the Patrick Ewing effect when he comes back. (Everybody will just stop and look at him go one on one) and they'll never get over the hump with him there. Great player, but not for that team.
