I miss my hair being shorter sometimes. I think when I chop it off I might have enough to donate to Locks of Love.

Wow! When do you intend to chop it off? (it would be awesome to have Black natural hair options for their clients!)

FWIW, I doubt they would keep the hair natural. Since they combine hair from multiple donations to make each wig, it would probably be too difficult to make sure the natural textures matched. (it would be awesome to have Black natural hair options for their clients!)

Wow! When do you intend to chop it off? (it would be awesome to have Black natural hair options for their clients!) I'm thinking when I hit my weight loss goal but IDK. I emailed them and the receptionist said it was fine and acceptable. I heard that whatever they don't/can't use they sell off (which I don't have a problem with since they need money to operate). I've read about a few people donating natural hair to them though. It would be great if they had some sort of demand for afro-textured hair. I did hear about Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program so that's another option. I just figure if I'm going to chop off that much hair I might as well put it to good use. That's probably the only time I'd get my hair flat ironed, LOL.

Thank you! Day 1 and I like it so far. The 5 minute or less hair care is blowing me! This is TOO easy. No flat irons, sprtiz, gel... just wow! I'm ready to experiment to find the right product that'll make my curls stand out. I got a little under an inch but it looks so dry when Im done. Any suggestions?

I believe 91 had that issue. I don't see anything wrong with using a spritz glosser. Curly hair will naturally appear less shiny because it refracts light differently. So be sure that you ARE moisturizing with a water based product. Once you do that, I say feel free to spritz or rub on some glossifier (spray or serum) and go about your day!

Wow that's crazy! ISIS has braided my hair before her hair is beautiful. www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2011/09/21/2011-09-21_dallas_woman_shocked_after_airport_security_agents_frisk_her_large_hairstyle_for.htmlDallas woman shocked after airport security agents frisk her large hairstyle for bombs Isis Brantley said she was shocked recently when a TSA agent asked to search her large hairstyle for bombs. Take our PollBlow Outs Should the TSA check large hairstyles for hidden bombs? Yes, someone could easily hide an explosive device in their hair. No, checking someone's hair is going too far. I don't care. A Dallas beauty whose signature bouffant regularly turns heads said she got some unwanted attention recently from airport security agents who combed her coif for bombs. Isis Brantley said she was walking through Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport headed for a Dallas-bound flight when two TSA agents ran her down and asked to check her head, Dallas' KXAS television reported. "Some random lady came up and said, 'Did they check your hair?' and I said, 'What? No.' And then I just kept going," Brantley told the station. The Dallas-based hairstylist said one of the agents told her she had to check her for bombs and began patting down her 'do. "She took her hand and she started digging around in my hair several times, and I said … Please don't do this to me. This is humiliating and embarrassing,'" Brantley told KXAS. Brantley said the TSA agents let her go after the brief search. She did not miss her flight. The TSA told the station that Brantley left the checkpoint before her screening was over and that agents had offered her a private screening, but she refused. Brantley said an airport manager apologized to her about the hair-raising experience

My hair is getting soo long just keeping it twisted and/or braided up. Haven't MT in a while think it's about time. Still haven't tried henna everyone says I should just leave my hair be at it's jet black natural state....ughhhh I want a little change for the winter.

I don';t like when I wear my hair all twisted up but others seem to love it. Although it has parabens in it, I like that Pink Oil Glosser spray...smells good.

True....but I've been rocking a puff poneytail for like 2 weeks and neither my edges or ends like. My hair does well when twisted I just don't like the look. I still need some hang time I don't think I look as girly when it's twisted.
Ohhhh damn if I do damn if I don't I'm trying hard not to go back to what I know which is rocking some curly or kinky curly weave.

My tree braids have held me down for 6 solid weeks. I'll take them out in a few days, when I return from Vegas. I'll DEFINITELY be getting these again. The hair was super cheap, installation was relatively quick. They were easy to care for (once I figured out how to shampoo). I was able to leave my edges out without any trouble. And I got a TON of compliments, most people believing that it was my own hair. Only thing that remains to be seen is the take-down. I've noticed that some of my real hair extends beyond the braid-knot (which I frankly expected because my hair is NOT short). No telling what effect that will have.
When I take it down, I'll do a MEAN scalp exfoliation/DC and rock 2-strand twists for awhile while my hair catches itself. Will likely leave it un-enhanced until New Years.

Sure wish I would have got my hair twisted or braided prior to today...tryna get all this hair under my grad cap may be a problem for the person sitting behind me.
OAN: I tried some Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Shampoo and Conditioner last night and my hair kind of liked it. That ish is kinna pricey so Im glad I was able to doh doh the trial sizes at my hotel last week.

Congrats! When is graduation? (In retrospect, I've actually had some sort of weave situation all 3 times I've worn a graduation cap, lol) I'm installing cornrow tree-braids again in the next couple weeks. I will just plead with the braiders to ensure that they braid the ENTIRE length of my hair. May take a little longer, but when I take them down, I want to be able to cut above the knot, not unravel each one. Beyond having to un-do 30 knots, take-down was a cinch! Also, the synthetic hair behaved beautifully. This is definitely my new weaving technique. For my big trip in February, I'm going to get the individual tree-braids w/my edges out. It's decided. I was worried that the individual tree braids would not actually be invisible and look more like micros, but I'm confident now. I think they'll be easier to wash, I'll have more access to my scalp and hopefully they last longer. My hair LOVES protective styles

I was just talking about stylist trust yesterday. I don't really trust anybody with my hair and I think that's a shame. My transition stylist was cool but she didn't really have a handle on how natural hair behaves so my styling was inconsistent. Some days, my press would be on point, other days...not so much. Then a friend of mine (who has helped my mother to transition) did my hair ONE TIME in Spring 2010 and flat ironed all my curls out. To this day, I look like I have a texlaxer, so I'm basically transitioning all over again.
I let the Africans install my tree braids and I don't all the way trust them either, but that's one service I know I can't do myself. I see myself in protective styles for most of 2012. Installing more tree-braids next month. Thereafter, I'm getting a straight weave w/bangs.

Thereafter, I'm getting a straight weave w/bangs. This is what I'm wearing right now-blond underneath and dark brown on top. It's a weave cap tho...so I can take it off and wash my braided hair underneath whenever I please which is hair heaven for me. I can also sew it on and keep it in place for the week or pin it with bobby pins for nightly removals. I plan to keep these very braids in for a few months, washing 1-2 times per week.

Here’s some more information on the story: A housewife died after suffering a massive allergic reaction possibly triggered by the glue in her hair extensions, an inquest heard today. Atasha Graham, 34, collapsed after a night out dancing at a club where her boyfriend was the DJ. The hearing at Southwark Coroner’s Court in London was told the allergic reaction may have been caused by the glue used to attach her hair extensions – but there was no way to be 100 per cent certain. Home Office pathologist Doctor Michael Heath told the inquest: ‘I’ve seen cases where people using solvent to apply hair extensions has actually caused anaphylactic shock.

Since I'm pretty much on the road for the next couple of months my hair is the last thing i want to be bothered with. I had Kia sew-in some Wet & Wavy Indian Remy (14, 12, and 10 inches layered) (for my fb homies: similar to the way it was for my birthday, but a more wavy than curly).
Although my tender head wanted to scream out in protest at the time, I'm loving it.
