We love us some braids and weaves but hate taking them down I know I sure do. I swore never to get any more micros after I cut a patch of my hair out of frustration trying to take them down. Targét huh you got a deal!

I made the shealoe butter and I really like it for my hair and body! Next time, I'm going to try to incorporate more water to make it even more moisturizing. Gonna make a body scrub this weekend (gotta cop some seasalt) I did this. Made a double-portion (and gave away a few jars). The extra water made it nice and fluffy too :-) I tried making some shealoa butter but my nose is super sensitive to raw uncut shea butter...too sweet.

The stuff you got sounds like it was mixed with something (maybe a fragrant EO) because raw shea butter has a light kind of nutty smell. It shouldn't smell sweet.

LOL oh yeah maybe that's what it was. I ordered it online so who knows. I have been concious about reading labels.

My hair is not growing like a weed. I am not happy.
And the fact that I read labels now is the best part of this transition. The widely varying costs for ish that is mostly mineral oil has been eye opening.

Yea and I guess its like our food they claim stuff is natural but when you look at the back of the bottle and see some stuff you can't pronouce you're like yea ok! I have found this transition a very difficult but enlightening process. I have started using Mekatek and a homemade mixture of some other stuff and my hair has grown so much!

Don't forget that a lot of things that we use (butter, oils, EOs, etc) have scientific names that are on the ingredient list. No one calls olive oil "Olea europaea" or shea butter "Butyrospermum parkii." LOL

To whomever suggested using virgin coconut oil and Shea Moisture products , THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!! These items works wonders on my daughters 2b/c half black half Dominican hair!!!!Her curls are moisturized and beautiful! I'm now thinking of going natural myself. But becuase Im a mix of so many things( Morrocan, Trinidadian, Black, Irish, Creole, Native American) and I've been relaxing for so long I'm no longer sure what my texture is or what would work in my hair.

LOVE the smell of virgin coconut oil but it leaveslil white clumps in my hair. I don't knwo what I'm doing wrong.
not knowing what your texture is good enough reason to go natural, if only to find out. Remember, unless you BC down to a Chrisette Michele, you haven't done anything you can't undo.

It could be the humidity where you are located. I know that happened to me when I first started using it. Also, it depends on what you are mixing it with it is best to use on clean hair before adding other products. And make sure you are not using too much. www.happygirlhair.com/2010/01/coconut-oil.html

I'd also like to add that finding what works in your hair is just going to be trial & error...that seems to be part of part of the process for everyone going natural. It was QUITE a while before I found the combination of product(s) & styling process(es) that made my hair do what I wanted it to do. And know that just because something works for a lot of other folks, doesn't mean it will work for you.

No I don't like cocount so I was skeptical about eating it. It just tastes like a lightly flavored oil..I don't know how to describe it but it spread on my toast real easily so I was like why not. PLUS it has soooooo many health benefits so that made me do it

Yes I did some reserch on the apple cider vinger and it is the truth!!! It has alot of benifits for the hair that I was unaware of. I have been looking at the website RC posted about the coconut oil but I decided to go with another brand that I got off of Amazon. The reviews said it wasnt as runny. I got 16oz for $8 and I love it I use it on her hair, my hair, my feet, nails(the acrylics killed them), as lotion and on my face and lips. The brand is Nature's Way Efagold Organic Pure Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. whew long title! and it DOES NOT have a strong smell or build up or residue.

Make sure you get you a good multi-vitamin too. If you have ever heard of Ovations Cell Therapy they are the same company that makes MT but markets it for human hair growth. While MT markets it for horses. MT is cheaper and they have almost the same ingredients. I have heared mixed reviews about both but I decided to give MT a try. forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=151693

LOVE the smell of virgin coconut oil but it leaveslil white clumps in my hair. I don't knwo what I'm doing wrong. melt it down and mix in about a 25% ratio of a scent-free carrier oil (like sweet almond or grapeseed...castor might be a little too thick). Voila! It'll stay liquid in the container AND in your hair
