I can't take people crying on film over a senseless death this time of the night. What was he pledging?
I'll reserve further comment until I hear the story.

It's sad whet people chose to put themselves through for membership in our orgs. The hazers are wrong but the victims make the choice to participate.

DST, you know I'm with you on that, but we gotta also acknowledge that some of these young folks subject themselves to this kind of thing because they are told they won't get the "respect' they deserve, or will be referred to as "paper" if they don't. But you are 100% correct...it's wrong on BOTH ends, and that's what we (all of us) have got to put a stop to! If we don't we will be destroyed ....by our own.

Sad *patiently awaits for more developments to hear exactly what happened* What apalls me is that whomever he was with, they simply took him to a hospital after he collapsed...and just left him...like you would some kind of animal. They didn't wait to find out his condition...just didn't seem to give a damn! That alone would be cause for me to prosecute them if I were his family.

^^^^ok that is definitely not right… What was he pledging? Not saying he bears no responsibility but he’s dead and gone…his family should sue….

Thanx for the go head 91 but its not needed...
I don't know your process nor care to know but looking back at what alot of people do to become members of any org...@ what ever age the person was I agree with Robe..It's a want of respect was they have entered the org.In the scheme of it what were you willing to do?!?! ( hypothetical question)..I see yall and yall meaning all..have had this discussion about made and not made...I fault the members before aspirants because yall know yall rules.. and regardless of what they go through or am willing to put themselves through...Who are said members to push the limits...

Sigh When I first read this thread a few days ago I was thinking "Lord not my fraternity Again" Although I'm happy to hear that my fraternity is not involved but still very sadden by this young man's dealth. At this point it doesn't really make a difference who frat was involved...a young black brother has died and for what? to wear some Blue, Black, Purple or Krimson.
My son is 4 yrs old and like most parents I want my son to go off to college however what use to be a safe haven for young adults has turned into hell. It makes my job that much harder as a parent to perpare my kid for the ignorant stupid shyt people do.
For us to be the Talented Tenth we sho do sum dumb shyt!

Oh goodness...I didn't realize that is how he died. He was a member of Alpha Phi Omega and when I saw that so many people had RIP to him in their status I thought he passed from something else. What a shame

I read everything I could find on this case. Ev-er-y-thing...and this is some of the fishiest stuff I've heard in awhile. It does not seem that ANY party is telling the truth. Not the chapter, not the school, not the family, not his LBs...and this is what happens. Pledging is such a hot mess. Nobody trusts anybody. Because everyone is out to get anybody. Therefore, no effective risk management can really take place. Even when horrible things happen, everybody's hands are dirty and no one feels free to tell the truth. I have so much to say, but I think I'll stop here for fear I veer away from the what appears to be the purpose of THIS particular thread.

No matter the org, this is a crying shame. I feel you on the lack of trust when it come to pledging, Leja. That's real talk.
@bun H, I'd no idea he was APO. The 25/52 has lost another. Sad shame, our poor brother. *cross over heart*

My sources even say that a Zeta was out there with them. Also something the mom said about him having been beat last year by some other frat because he had missed the haze part. Who was that? APO? Lots of unanswered questions.
All I know is that this is a sad day for a whole lot of people. I'll be going to the funeral and I'll give you guys an update.

DST, it isn't "what people do" it's what we do to supposedly teach people their place in the world. Yes, interest should know when enough is enough, but damn what sort of satisfation are we really getting from watching and laughing at these performances. "Victims" chose to participate because they hear "us" talking trash on the yard and in our communities. They read message boards like these and they are simply trying to avoid being hazed all the days of their greek lives. We created this and I thinking it's only fair that we take the blame. It's sad whet people chose to put themselves through for membership in our orgs. The hazers are wrong but the victims make the choice to participate.
