I just had a person tell me that Jehovah's Witness, Seventh Day Adventists, Mormons and Christian Science are not Christianity and then proceeds to recommend a book.

this quote: "Members aren't encouraged to, and are often disuaded from thinking for themselves...after all they don't operate on the same spiritual plane as their more enlightened leaders"
let me know that at least one of the chapters in this book is utter horsespit.

I don't know much about Christian Science. I have to read up on it. I wonder if general mormonism still teaches that blacks are cursed. Seventh Day Adventists ---I just thought that they held the sabbath on a different day. I know a few folks that are Adventists. Interesting why they would consider these groups especially...

Plurality and Unity are not just New Testament phenomenon. We see it in Genesis and Isaiah. We then see it in Matthew 1:23 (Jesus is God), Jesus is worshipped, Jesus is called God, and the Father calls Jesus, God. One in unity, and separate as an individual.
As for Catholicism, it is purely syncretized Christianity. It is syncretized with Paganism. Transubstantiation in laymen's terms is that the bread and the fruit of the vine are supernaturally transformed into Jesus actual body and blood, not simply symbolic. The Co-mediation of Jesus and Mary is pure blasphemy. There is only ONE mediator between God and man.
Catholicism would have never been excepted by the early church, and it was not. It takes about 200-300 years before you see Christianity syncretized by or into other faiths.
