Renegades are perps to me. This is the only way I can imagine someone knowing all the ish and still not having a certificate. Do you treat them as perps or victims? Depends on how they act. If they act like members, knowing that they're not, and making no effort to become legit, then...perps it is. I don't respect the members who "made" them either. I hate perping and support of perphood in all its forms.

but what if you know the challenges... what if you know the ritual... what if you know <fill in blank here>... Oh, thats right, your perpin ass still aint on the national roster. PERPS!! <= slightly bitter because I almost helped a perp get a job... When did you discover he was a perp? How did it happen? Did you confront him? I invited him to my chapter meeting. He found every excuse, I took them all away, so he came. Of course, new "brothers" must be verified. He failed. I was beyond pissed becase I wrote him a letter of rec to a former employee of mine. I had to call and say disregard my letter. Funny thing was my LB had to walk him out of the meeting area. The chapter didnt want me doing anything crazy to him.

Matter of fact that is insane. How did he come to represent himself as an Alpha though? Did someone introduce you to him as another Alpha and he couldn't get out of the lie or something?

His coworker said he was an Alpha (apparently he told her). He knew enough. So we met, had a couple of drinks. He said a couple of things that sounded off, but I was new compared to him so... I told him he needed to get active, especially in this area then his employment opportunities will open up. Hell, I agreed to help him out. Then I invited him to brunch at our meeting time. He said he was available. Next day, I told him we will go eat after I show face. The rest is history.

He did. I told him that I had to present the night before. It would only take a sec... He just assumed that I would blow the meeting off.
Besides, Who doesnt mind visiting a chapter?

LOL - I don't know why people think they can extend their perpin' beyond "themsevles in the confines, safety, and obscurity" of their own homes. The minute you tell someone else, they think you're legit, and they refer you to other members. It's a great big super-sized "FAIL" waiting to happen - why do people insist on doing it.

But, now I am pretty sensitive and I used different means to tell the difference between a perp and a member now.

I feel like I could start a reality show just from the Greek related stuff I've seen at this job. Today, a Sigma was telling me how he initially wanted to pledge Alpha at Hampton but they were assholes to him. So after he graduated and went back home to Minnesota, he looked into the grad chapter there and they were also assholes. His deceased father had been a Sigma, so one of his father's friends invited him to join. He said "I didn't have to do anything, so thats why I'm a Sigma now."
I just nodded my head as he was digging this hole...LOL

The ONE aspect about many (not necessarily all) of these incidents of perps, ghosts, fakes..is that in alot of cases they are ENCOURGED to perp by OUR OWN BROTHERS AND SORORS!
Think about it: How many of us have heard of situations where chapters that have oftentimes been suspended, are continuing to carry out clandestine initiations...making folks who obviously are illegitimate because if your chapter is suspended, it can't LEGALLY conduct an initiation. There is a chapter here in Alabama that was doing just that!
Some things we can't control; a kook going out and purchasing paraphernalia and car accessories just like he/she was duly initiated.
Other things we can; some of our warped-minded members who have their own agendas outside of what our respective constitutions say, and want their own chapter within a chapter, or a situation like the one I mentioned above. One thing is a constant in either of these situations....these perps, ghosts and fakes are more damned trouble than they are worth!!

So Here is an update on my last post in this thread. *Recap* While in the Jamba Juice on 86ht St some dude threw up hooks and barked like he was a Que when in fact he wasn't .
So fast forward to yesterday. My girlfriend and I were in the area and thought we'd see if he was still working there almost as a goof. So low & behold he was still there. I brought a bottle of water (yes I went to Jamba Juice & brought a bottle of water) and while at the register we inquired about what dudes name was. So the woman at the register told us and so we walked over to say hi.
So we said hi to ___________ and he looked up and said hey. So we asked him if he remembered us. He said yeah he did. Then we asked how his process was going. I guess dude aint learn his lesson the last time we were there 'cause he said that his ass & his legs hurt. He was then asked if he was being hazed. Dude said, didn't I say my ass and my legs hurt. My homegirl and I said goodbye and he threw us the peace sign.
Now as we left we realized that now he was confirming he was being hazed. So my homegirl tried to call her Que friend but she wasn't able to get through however I was able to get through to one of mine.
Frankly I kinda feel bad for the org since dude clearly is just giving info up. I wonder if he's gonna make it.
