So what if the President pitches Chicago for the Olympics? Was it a bad move on his part with everything going on? I say people just want to complain. www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/29/obama.olympics.politics/index.htmlwww.politico.com/news/stories/0909/27742.htmlJohn Boehner blasts Barack Obama's Olympic moveHouse Minority Leader John Boehner torched President Barack Obama Wednesday for his European trip to pitch the Chicago Olympics bid, criticizing the president for "going to go off to Copenhagen when we've got serious issues here at home that need to be debated." Obama's trip has been maligned by most Republicans as the health care overhaul remains in a continued state of flux in Congress and the top general in Afghanistan awaits word on a troop increase. The White House first said it was unlikely that Obama would go to Denmark because he thought it important to help push health care through Congress. But earlier this week, the White House announced Obama thought the health care debate was far enough along that he could escape for the day to lobby the International Olympic Committee's voters to bring the games to his home town. Boehner clearly isn't in that camp. "Listen I think it's a great idea to promote Chicago but he's the president of the United States, not the mayor of Chicago," Boehner said. "And the problems we have here at home affect all Americans and that's where his attention ought to be."

...when THEY aren't actually seeking solutions?
If they are so suddenly so concerned about the public and Healthcare - here's a thought. Give us YOUR plan. Jacka$$

The President can go to the bathroom in the East Wing and someone would complain. He makes the negative news by just blowing his nose.

I'll bite. If he's doing it because the Olympics would be great for the U.S. economy, I'm all for it. Meaning I would support if he would do this for any U.S. city that's a serious contender.. If he's doing it simply because it's Chicago, I'm against it. But the Olympics usually have a long lasting positive impact on the city that hosts so bringing them to Chicago would be good for us.

It has a positive effects on the country - not just the city. It is a way to inject massive tourism money into many industries (airline, hospitality, construction, etc) that are not just local - he absolutely SHOULD lobby for it - it's low hanging fruit that requires a minimal amount of time for him to lobby for it and there's a big pay off if it works - the cost to benefit says "why not"? Taking one measely day or week to lobby is not a big deal...
...unless you're a wingnut.
@sapphy: Reading is Fundamental, Damie... RIF. LOL But I agree, it's not the day or two that bothers me. I just think sometimes Obama gets in the weeds which makes me nervous, which is why my opinion depended on his motives.

Grayson. Seriously if you find the link post it. It's about time someone took an offensive posture against this idiots. It's about time someone has spoken up and called a "spade" a "spade" and not apologized for it. If you find that link post it. Cause I seriously WILL contribute.

Yes, negus… the “if” in my post was in reference to his intention, not whether the Olympics had an impact on the U.S. economy. So I said it before and I’ll say it again: RIF. Now you drop down and give me 20. LOL.

Bottom line, the world loves him. for this type of pitch you send in your A team. I agree with him going as it is in fact good for the American economy. And you're right, had he not gone, the headline would have been "Obama refuses to support American Olympic dream". Give me a break!

He's the President of a country that is trying to attract a world wide competition during a world wide recession.
The leaders of the other countries were there so for this....I think people are just blowing hot air.
