I think we're unconscious of birth because we start as a blank slate. We don't know how to associate sights, sounds, and feelings with a concrete thought process. Many babies are born synesthetic - that is, the mind and its synapses are all crosswired, so babies basically hear color and smell sound. As we grow our minds learn to eliminate processes of the mind that aren't relevant, and associate signs and sounds with words and thoughts. It'd almost be like us going to a planet that isn't carbon based with beings and objects that have no resemblance to our world. We wouldn't know how and what to associate these things to, and we'd be starting brand new....don't know if this makes sense - it does in my mind. Lol.

I understand what you are saying Crim. Its Aristotle's theory called Tabula Rosa. His theory makes sense and is part of one of the basis for the psychology of learning and thinking, along with memory.

Respecting the advent of infinite possibilities that theory could be true. At birth we are being fine tuned to this frequency coming from another. The problem I have with it are a couple of things. #1 Babies in the womb respond to sound just as we do out here. #2 Cells respond to most stimuli just as we do without the mundane appendages we have to carry out these functions. Interesting theory and I will read up on it more.

I don't associate the two. I have conscious memories from about age 5. Lack of consciousness of the events previous to that age doesn't negate the fact that they happened. I am not conscious of my conception but we know it happened because later events could not have happened without it having happened first. SO personhood begins at conception as well, does it not? |

Can you prove the picture a fraud? If not, then chill. If that's the best you got, I would have kept it. The man in that picture looks how old? How can you tell Mr. Fedex/Kinkos Photoshop genius? Anyway, as I stated before concerning the real topic, there are many stages where one is not conscious. A fighter who gets knocked out cold, a person who is sleeping, etc. Whether we are conscious at birth or not has nothing to do with our existence.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and can only arrive at or figure out things about ourselves through observation, experimentation, trial and error, etc. We did not need anyone to discover that the earth was rounds, or that Atlas does not hold it up. The greatest mystery is how does Jesus shedding blood cancel the sin of those who accept them in their heart.
What 5 senses are tapped into when God reveals Himself to you? We are more than physical beings.
