Keeping members financially active and active in their perpective orgs.
I know a lot of Sorors and other greeks who are financial but they don't do jack! (Except wear nalia)
You are supposed to be more than just a name on a list!!!!

I have one that doesn't get much traction. It's something I only use with other Alphas and lately, with AKA's.
Alpha Phi Alpha is not a community service organization. We aren't. So I wish brothers would stop being so gung-ho about doing or not doing service. Leave that to those organizations that have that as a core principle.
The Warden and I have had this discussion at time since she is a Delta. To me, it makes perfect sense for Deltas to use the word "Service" all the time and to compare everyone against how much service they perform. That's their bogey.
Just recently, this conversation came up at Nationals and one brother looked like he was going to come unglued! He was appauled that I would say such a thing and then goes on to recite the history of Alpha and it's service to the community.
It got heated....

Not quite sure why you are having this with any of my sorors because it is in our purpose and pledge for the org to be of service to all mankind, soooo.

It was actually an extension of a group discussion amongst greeks. The conversation dipped into a subject that I REFUSE to bring up here right now. I started another thread to discuss this.

“Some” Graduate advisors having such a tight grasp, a strict attitude, and overbearing presence on our UG chapters….that early on, many UG members begin to question and resent our Grad Members or even membership at that level.

Man, we have an advisor at my UG chapter that thinks its her chapter, they can do nothing witout her and she uses that to her advantage, esp when she is pissd... she got voted out once, all hell broke loose... that bitch is evil!

Balancing what you all call deference with getting work done.
I'ma just keep it real. If you ask me for my chair, you got it older Bruh. If there's a line for food, older Bruh you can get in front of me, or I can bring you back a plate. If we're having a discussion, older Bruh I let you speak first.
But that year you came in is not some kinda pixie dust, where everything YOU say is right (especially when it's wrong). Protocol is protocal and I am willing to listen to whatever you have to say (within reason), but your year ain't gon' make you right when it comes to making a business decision. We're gonna do what makes sense.

To piggy back off Damie, most Greeks it appears have hard time understanding a very simple truth: NOBODY outside your org has to respect ANYTHING about your org. So GTFOH with all these arbitrary rules that you want people to abide by as it relates to your ORG.
<--- had an undergrad flashback!

Deference can be just an extension of "home training" but i've run into situations where, as Damie alluded, older bruhs thought I should defer to them and their ideas because I was new.
I also draw the "deference" line when older bruhs decide it's time to start talking to me like my name it Tron and i've got a gold grill in my mouth.
Many of my chapter brothers think it's wrong but while i'll be respectful....i'm that wrong niqqa to f*ck wit when it comes to dealing with stupidity.
<<== exits stage in a huff....telling this got me worked up again...

I remember back in the day I walked into a store that specialized in wall paper and I looked at their book where they have you to fill out if you want to be on their e-mail list and GUESS what pen they had sitting there for folks to use? I kindly put the pen in my purse and took another one out and laid it up there.
