*off topic* Reign I can't stand you for saying she turned into chicken little!!! LOLOLOL *back to the matter at hand* Yeah, that was Bill's maker. And from the previews, it looks like Erin asked her to come...that's wild! My friend and I were talking about how she thought Eric was trying to kill Bill so he could have Sookie. I do think he (Eric) setup the whole thing in the first place...that church didn't kidnap old boy. And yeah, MaryAnne was wild for that smock. I was like "did she really just dress up like Sookie's grandmother?!?!?!?" LOLOL Question...who was the woman who bared her fangs at the end of Sunday's episode. She looked familiar. Was that Bill's maker? And OMG, did anyone else holler seeing Maryanne in that smock reading a book at the kitchen table? i was like, OVERKILL!

I just wanna know why Maryann killed the fake Mambo lady and how did Daphne survive the scratch on her back. Is she the match for Maryann? Where is the fake Mambo's heart?
BKUP with all this back scratching do you see any Palo Mayombe symbolism reeking here? I thought that when I saw Maryann digging in the earth and she is always in her kitchen.....Always wanted to have some sort of feast dealing with food and drink. Is she trying to use Tara's womb to breed another shape shifter?

I do see what youre saying with digging in the dirt though. As far as Tara's womb: that's an interesting thought cuz I cant understand why she wants Tara around her so badly. It makes me think that the dude Tara is sweet on may be a shape shifter too...

How did Bill get his skin texture back after being burned in the sun. See they made it seem like Bill came at Lafayette last season fed on him then when the leg dropped out of the car folk thought it was his because of the nail polish. So when it was the fake Mambo lady I thought hmmm maybe Bill fed on her but then when they showed the scratches I was like naw it wasn't her. So who in the hayle did Bill fed on to get his skin texture back?

Excellent question VP! But I think this is one of those inconsistencies that we aren't supposed to notice. It'll be interesting to see if it's a future plot item that they are saving.

I have no clue how that happened VP/Pyramid Twin. Maybe we need to go to HBO.com and reread the plot synopsis from Season 1

Hmm So maybe the Mambo was real since Maryann cut her heart out. See how the writers are trying to say she is the sacred feminine and equate it to "Satan"? hmmpf

So I heard last night that Bill and Sookie got engaged. Now I REALLY don't want to see them getting it in on screen.
@bk, I love Lafayette even in his damaged state. It should be interesting to see where they take that.

Thanks E-LS <--runs to google
from Wikipedia:
Maenad From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search "Bacchae" redirects here. For the tragedy by Euripides, see The Bacchae. "Bassarids" redirects here. For the opera by Hans Werner Henze, see The Bassarids. Maenad carrying a hind, fragment of an Attic red-figure cup, ca. 480 BC, Louvre MuseumIn Greek mythology, maenads were the female followers of Dionysus, the most significant members of the Thiasus, the retinue of Dionysus. Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication.[1] In this state, they would lose all self control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped by a cluster of leaves, weave ivy-wreaths around their heads, and often handle or wear snakes.[2]
German philologist Walter Friedrich Otto writes that, "The Bacchae of Euripides gives us the most vital picture of the wonderful circumstance in which, as Plato says in the Ion, the god-intoxicated celebrants draw milk and honey from the streams. They strike rocks with the thyrsus, and water gushes forth. They lower the thyrsus to the earth, and a spring of wine bubbles up. If they want milk, they scratch up the ground with their fingers and draw up the milky fluid. Honey trickles down from the thyrsus made of the wood of the ivy, they gird themselves with snakes and give suck to fawns and wolf cubs as if they were infants at the breast. Fire does not burn them. No weapon of iron can wound them, and the snakes harmlessly lick up the sweat from their heated cheeks. Fierce bulls fall to the ground, victims to numberless, tearing female hands, and sturdy trees are torn up by the roots with their combined efforts.”[3]
The maddened Hellenic women of real life were mythologized as the mad women who were nurses of Dionysus in Nysa: "he that on a time drave down over the sacred mount of Nysa the nursing mothers of mad Dionysus; and they all let fall to the ground their wands." (Iliad, VI.130ff). They went into the mountains at night and practised strange rites.[4]
In Macedon, according to Plutarch's Life of Alexander, they were called Mimallones and Klodones. In Greece they were described as Bacchae, Bassarides, Thyiades, Potniades and other epithets.[5]
The maenads were also known as Bassarids (or Bacchae or Bacchantes) in Roman mythology, after the penchant of the equivalent Roman god, Bacchus, to wear a fox-skin, a bassaris.
In Euripides' play The Bacchae, Theban maenads murdered King Pentheus after he banned the worship of Dionysus. Dionysus, Pentheus' cousin, himself lured Pentheus to the woods, where the maenads tore him apart. His corpse was mutilated by his own mother, Agave, who tore off his head, believing it to be that of a lion.
A group of maenads also killed Orpheus.[6]
In Greek vase-painting, the frolicking of maenads and Dionysus is often a theme depicted on Greek kraters, used to mix water and wine. These scenes show the maenads in their frenzy running in the forests, often tearing to pieces any animal they happen to come across.
See also Icarius, Butes, Dryas, and Minyades for other examples of Dionysus inflicting insanity upon women as a curse.
Interesting

Well Daphne stated some in front of every name she called. As in some people call her Satan, some people call her a Maenad. etc etc etc. Now the character maybe portrayed as such as well but the thing that got me was when Sam asked if she was God and Daphne's response. I was like hmmpf
