What killed this board (and every other board) is other social media. I'm FB friends with a lot of folks, I follow most of those same people on Twitter, and still others I see on Instagram, my quota of communication is fulfilled fine just between those 2. OO had a good run. Now it's like a wild life preserve or like some digital Le Brean Tar Pit, where old posts are fossilzed and preserved for future generations of newbies to read.

I would agree with your assessment. And I think some aspirants are on boards that are specific to their sorority of choice. I never got into those, but they do exist. So maybe that's what potential newbies prefer. I still think that folks are afraid now that they will be 'found out' or blasted for sharing too much. So they lurk old threads to get info. What killed this board (and every other board) is other social media.
