The DC Picnic was planned and executed by the 15 alumni chapters who affiliate with the DC Panhel. All costs including insurance, signing of contracts, porta-pottys, DJ's, food, etc... was borne by the 15 alumni chapters. It was in a sense, an alumni picnic, where undergrads are invited. For those who attended this year, I believe they saw a mixture of young and old. However, I think to a certain degree what Priss states has merit. My question is, should there be two or even three different picnics where everyone can associate with only those of their own age group, or should Alumni Panhel's stop advertising these picnics beyond the participating chapters?

LOL....You got that - I feel you on that. Not only did that joint make me feel really old, but it just ain't the same as it used to be back in the day. It's just feels "different" . A lot of our older Bros still keep up and stay informed on our UG chapter and it's happenings. It just happens to be customary that at least two or three old heads will roll down to events like this with the much younger Bros - Ecspecially when there are Neo's rolling, just in case..... But after witnessing the extreme fall off of the Philly Greek, I'm taking myself out of the rotation at least until Neveruary 48th of last year..lol ROFLMAO!!! Yep, I feel you. I had this "argument" with a friend of mine and he gave the same rationale as you but at some point you have to hand over the reigns. I cant go because I'll wind up slapping someone out....so, our girls are schooled well enough and we are a phone call away. They are usually with older sorors but still sorors younger than us. We are like the Wizard now...lol LOL! Thats better than 19-90never...the year I was told that I'd eventually cross! lol LOL..no doubt. Yup, it’s time to step back for sure and let others step up. I just know how it is or wait…..I just know how it how it USE to be for Neo’s fresh off the sands attending the Philly Greek. Forget challenges alone – Man them Rowdy old heads wanted you to take them step by step through your process, what chapters you saw, who came to visit you, why this, why that, what’s this mean, etc, etc…lol Our Dean would just sit back quiet and let us work our way out of it. He would step in if we got jammed up too bad but other than that…… But yeah, Neo’s (from every Org) use to feel that pressure from the “welcoming committee” at the Philly Greek. It was definitely a good look to have some old head back up with you. But again, a lot has changed, and based on what I saw, I’d rather be home cutting my grass in the sweltering heat than attend the next one in 2010..lol.

The DC one was cool, I was there....I didnt consider that "a greek" just a cookout. People ate, mingled, and went home. To me, The Greeks are like Philly...IMO, I think the greeks should be planned withthe younger greeks with advisement coming from the older alum. The things we find fun at 20, we wont find fun (or even acceptable) at 30+. Maybe organize it like a homecoming...where there are a few events for everyone. Just what goes on at The Greeks seems childish to me and at some point, let it go.

Good question. I suppose it's always good for the younger and older members to gather and fellowship at events together. The young can hang and learn from the old and the old can get caught up to speed on what's going on in the new age of Greekdom. It's probably better to promote and keep it open to all though. I don't know...Maybe it would be cool to have specific stations or pavilions set up at the open event where Neo's can meet up and converse, Old Heads (80's and back), or 90's, 00's, etc. People can congregate altogether but also dip off to their appropriate station as they see fit during the day (with banners indicating which station is which). Might be corny and too much work but who knows, some heads might enjoy it..

What's childish? You keep saying that? Not for nothing and Im not even trying to be smart but you really wont understand until you get older.. I dont know what type of events you've been to or what you've witnessed but from my many, many, many travels and road trips, at my age, I have NO desire to be around anything resembling a Philly Greek or ATL Greeknic (at least how they used to be bc apparently they are wack these days). To you now, you wont see it the way I do....as you get older and look back you'll think "man, we did XYZ and yea it was fun at the time but that was really stupid"...I also find little enjoyment hanging around people 10 years younger than I am. I can fellowship and bond with Sorors in other ways. But the behaviors I see at those events make me want to yoke younger sorors up...its best I stay away.

Yeah I don't have the energy to be at these events no more. When I was o.u.t I was O.U.T.!! Besides I always said to myself I wouldn't be that bruh still lingering around trying to relive the past. I thought it was wack then and wack now. Like damn team you can come here but when we have a social action you got chit to do.. NO! I mean I was in the ATL the weekend of AGP visiting my brothers and I chilled at my older brothers fortress that he calls a house... drinking patron, eating crabs, and smoking ganjah!
