On Saturday me and my squad attending the Philly Greek in Fairmount Park and boy oh boy…. In the park, there were a group of FA 08 Neos (apparently from the same school) doing some sort of a Greek Unity Stroll. The cats involved consisted of Alphas, Ques, Sigmas, & Iotas . Although I’ve never been too fond of the “unity” strolls, this wasn’t your basic 2 –step, casual stroll. It was more than that. These cats branched out from the stroll into a mini 2 minute step show that include each Frat doing SIGNATURE MOVES of the other Frats. Example: Alpha Bros doing a semblance of an Omega Hop, Omegas doing a semblance of the Alpha Train, Iota’s doing the Sigma clapping thing (no disrespect –just don’t know what to call the PBS style), and the Sigmas doing a mixture of everything. These cats had this thing rehearsed. I mean, I’ve seen associated sister sororities doing a tribute to their brothers in a routine and that’s cool. But other Frats doing unity/tribute steps to other Frats?? Someone help me out here. Is that some new stuff? Maybe I’m out the loop or something. When they were done showing their “unity”, you could see these cats each getting pulled to the side and getting some “stern” feedback from the various members of their Org (outside of their chapter) that were there. I mean the looks on everyone’s faces out there (in particular us old school cats) were priceless as we were like “WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THESE NEGROES DOING?? If anyone else here went on Saturday, please speak up and tell me you saw this too. This was around 3:40pm in the field directly across from the patrol cop directing cars where to park. Between this, the switch day stuff and other weirdness…I’m wondering what new school greekdom is coming to? **Oh yeah..And some cats are taking their Mike Jackson Tributes too far. I saw a Kappa with the image of Michael Jackson tattooed on his arm… with a Cane in one hand and Mike holding up the Kappa hand sign with his gloved hand. Not a knock on KAP as a whole, and not a knock on that dude as it’s his skin to do what he wants with (hey, some think brands are foolish)….but if Mike wasn’t a Kappa, isn’t that taking it a little too far? Maybe it’s just me though… ** Disclaimer - With the new laws and regulations on OOA regarding not mentioning other Greeks – I Hope the above isn’t perceived as an Alpha getting in or worrying about KAP/OPP/PBS/IPT business or wanting to secretly be a member of one of those Orgs...LOL

First, Philly Greek was booty! I don't remember what time i got there but i don't remember this happening at all. What were they strolling to? There was no dj. The only music i recall was the one blasting from this Alpha's car, where a crowd had gathered. And i think the Sigmas' blowing a whistle. Also, my first greek event outta state. What's up with people walking around with paddles? I don't get it. Wassup, with that Alpha with the stuffed monkey wrapped around his neck. That was weird.

There were a line of cars with a dark blue lexus, doors open playing music. The joint they strolled off of was the Jadakiss joint..His new single (don't know the name) It used to be common for people to walk around with paddles. Just to trade off a stroke and keep it moving (It was a Neo thing) I didn't see that particular Bro you were talking about but I don't doubt it. I saw quite a few questionable things I shook my head at though. Yeah..this Greek was not a beautiful look. Did you hit up the step show on Broad street at the Blue Horizon?

** Disclaimer - With the new laws and regulations on OOA regarding not mentioning other Greeks – I Hope the above isn’t perceived as an Alpha getting in or worrying about KAP/OPP/PBS/IPT business or wanting to secretly be a member of one of those Orgs...LOL FVCK all that! Like the John Mayer song says, "Say What You Need to Say..." In the park, there were a group of FA 08 Neos (apparently from the same school) doing some sort of a Greek Unity Stroll. The cats involved consisted of Alphas, Ques, Sigmas, & Iotas . I'm all for unity, and I think unity strolls are nice. This crosses the line. This isn't really a unity "stroll", per-se. 1. Fairmount Park? You sure? 2. unity strolls...are for unity. I honestly don't see the big deal. 3. That was my LB with the whistle :-) 4. walking around with paddles, while MAD extra, is a common sight for me. Maybe it's a regional situation. Never had anything to do with trading, it was just a prop (like Sigmas and their canes or whatever)

I guess to each his/her own with the Unity Stroll.... Old heads walking around with paddles is a bit much. But for the new jacks (males), it's okay. Some cats just carry around the decorative paddles. We used to carry around one of our chapter paddles.

Hit that junt 92,93,98,99,&2000 Gotcha..I never hit up Daytona Beach but we use to hit up Virginia Beach for the 4th of July and Labor Day weekend. That was the best - Hampton is right up the road from the strip. I think it might have been 99 we rolled with some of our Bros from Gamma Iota to that stepshow at the Hampton Colosiuem (right behind that movie theatre) but it turned into chaos. Some dude spit on security and the whole security squad dumped on this dude (I think it was F.O.I.) and beat him half to death. VA police came up in that joint with the dogs, mace, pepperspray, guns drawn..crazy. VA can get illy sometimes.

Lower profile, but still around. Wife is from Philly, and we happened to be up there that day. She gave me the o.k. to make a quick run to the park and fellowship with my people.

It just happens to be customary that at least two or three old heads will roll down to events like this with the much younger Bros - Ecspecially when there are Neo's rolling, just in case..... But after witnessing the extreme fall off of the Philly Greek, I'm taking myself out of the rotation at least until Neveruary 48th of last year..lol
