You're speaking for KAPsi, 'cause you sure as hell are not speaking for Alpha! O really? Who have you produced lately? And this opinion of mine was actually shaped by your frat brother Cornel West. I was reading Race Matters last night and his essay on the crisis of black leadership. Lately? Does that include the last 20-25 or so years, or are you speaking only since the new millenium began? Hell, leaders are revealed over a period of time. If you can pull one out of your ass right after you cross him, then KAPsi is better than I thought. But since you asked...here are a few: Roland Martin Ryan Mack LeSalle Lefall, Jr Marc Morial Walter M. Kimbrough Dennis Kimbro Will Packer Rob Hardy Gary Hardwick Kevin Powell Those are the ones I could recollect within a few minutes. Research will reveal plenty more in various professions.

That's why I listed him, but obviously Vudu didn't know that. Then again, there's probably enough that Vudu doesn't know to make a whole 'nother world!!

It was a fucking question y'all....shit! Granted, it was asked with some asshole comments afterwards but GOT DAYMN....why is everyone bent out of shame about it? Besides the dumbass and unnecessary comments at the end of the opening post which I can only guess pissed of ACES, what's wrong with the question? If it's out that these guys are going to be made members (honorary or not) then either the/a Sigma(s) let it out or the individuals let it out. Either way, it's out. Either decline to respond or answer the question. We aren't making leaders? Really? I beg to differ. Every time I look at the Sphinx magazine I see scores of brothers moving up the ladder or government, education, science, etc....and i'm sure it's the same for other organizations. Want to know why we aren't attraction more of the best? Hmmm...let's see...probably because our organizations don't hold the weight they used to. More doors are open. And also, because we spend so much fucking time worried about shit like this and the pledge/paper debate. To answer the question.. No Comment Now we can move on...

I guess I just don't see the big deal in asking the question - I asked about Michelle Obama one time to the AKAs and no one blew up. An Alpha asked today if Steve McNair was a Que. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Kappa that posted the story about the Tollhouse pledge process. If it was the presentation of the question he already apologized - so I don't see why we can't ask the question - is it true. Exactly Damie and of course it wasn't a Que who told us about the prison made Omegas in Ohio. Actually it was a Kappa that brought that up. It was an Alpha I believe that brought up "I Love You Ship", an SGRho that resurrected the picture of the Que with mitties (man titties) so on and so forth... and we all had a laugh about it. All of them. No one was accused of "being worried about someone else's org" based on that and we certainly weren't doing this collective "rain dance" that's going on now about someone asking a question.

Again, it was the "asshole comments afterwards," (your words) that were pointless!! If someone has a question about anything regarding any of our orgs, asking it should not be a problem. If they are asking it to make a joke or mockery of the subject, then they should keep their inquires to themselves.

So did "I Love You Ship" and The TollHouse Pledge Process. Hell the "I Love You Ship" thing has probably been the longest running joke on here - I don't remember seeing the Kappas do anything more but clown people back.

I think we do a great job on this site of being respectful of each others organizations. I can understand why the Sigma's were upset for 2 reasons; the original poster is not a regular poster on this site and the disrespectful comments after the question.
This is the same reason that me and some of my Sorors were upset about the drive by poster bringing up the FOTWI site. I know that some of you knew about it before it was posted, but most had enough respect to not bring it up. I know some may want to discuss it too, but no one is bringing it up.
Yes, there have been other instances where we have made fun of other organizations, but the difference normally is that we only laugh about things that are not really that serious. Like "I love you my ship", or the Que with the "mitties".
I do think the topic may be fair for discussion considering it was announced on the TJMS yesterday morning, but my opinion certainly takes a back seat to the opinions of the Sigma's on the board.

OK.
Like I said, was that his response to the QUESTION, or the "asshole comments" that followed? Only ACES (or his hairdresser) knows for sure!
Why don't we wait and see if he will come and give us an answer......

Hell, if we compared all of our leaders to Bill Clinton, we would indeed be SOL seeing as how the FIRST black president is in the WH as we speak. Rev. Sharpton is a civic activist, and an outstanding one. Marc Morial is president of the National Urban League. Cold already mentioned Bro. Powell's rising star in politics, and as an author and lecturer...that being said...YEAH, I'll compare them. Clinton wasn't born the president, and Sharpton wasn't born as the leader and voice for many disinfranchised in our community. They both BECAME those individuals.

In all seriousness, Rev. Sharpton set it off at the memorial yesterday! Despite some of his earlier days a hard radical, Al Sharpton is quite the intellect, and is not given the credit he deserves for his sincere efforts to make sure that our communities get the support and respect we deserve. Amen to that.........I feel the same way.....

OK, here is my question. I thought Bill Cosby is a Que? So if he is a Que, how is he being made an honoary Sigma? Why do I say he is a Que? Because one of the Ques that crossed at my UG has a picture of him and some other Ques throwing up the hook together. I can see that picture right now clear as day!
My friend ran track for our UG and Bill Cosby was there, i.e. how he took the pic. So I'm thoroughly confused now. From what I know of my friend, he wouldn't be throwing up hooks with any old body if they weren't a Que.
Someone please explain.

Nothing humorous about it at all. I think honorary membership is quite sad. What's sad about it Huey, particularly when they are not honorary members of YOUR organization? I remember last summer when some on this forum got all up in arms about the ladies of AKA, and their petition to Michelle Obama about becoming a member. My reaction now is as it was then...in what way does it concern you if you're not a member of AKA, or in this case, Phi Beta Sigma? Because you may not approve of it, that somehow makes it a travesty? There are a hell of alot more SAD things going on in BGLOs! Honorary membership doesn't even make the list! Some folks....I tell ya'! I don't care for HM but you said a conference full in the bold part of your post!
