Really? We had this conversation before...i'm sure of it. I believe it was over the term "Bruhs" or as it's spelled by the COLEMAN family "Bruz". So that's borrowed or stolen language? Come on. GTFOH.... *laughing my ass off!! Come on D, let a brotha have some fun.* We had the discussion. We didn't invent the word. Just the first to use it. Isn't that how you all suggest that all other D9 orgs pay you homage? I mean you didn't invent fraternities. Just the first ones to successfully do it on a college campus. But you still want credit for everyone else doing it. Why can't we do the same?
Bruhz™ Redz™ Owt™ Be Owt™ Be the F#ck Owt™ Set Owt™ Set Some $h!t Owt™ wreck™ wrecking™ Green™ Rufus™ Roo™ Roo Dog™ Roo Team™ Team™ CAT (and the many variations - LOL)™ Luke™ Betty™ 8™ 80™ Peace Bruh™
Those are the ones you could have (and likely have) at least heard in public setting - there's plenty more. I'm guessing everyone else has their own too... for example I call Kappas, Kappas. Nupe is THEIR term. And unless I'm on the phone with Leja clowning you won't hear me say GOMAB. So the question really is - why do other people appropriate the stuff that we use? It's not just Bruh - it's plenty of stuff.
Are we seriously going to argue this? For real? Are we really going to start the 4th of July weekend off like this? Come on y'all. Don't make me bring out the Imperial Quarter-Mitre SawD. Dash & Priss - Work with me on this one.. You see Alphas and AKA’s making it a point to use your lingo like “kat/cat” or “set owt” ? You two are on the East in DC right? I’m not too far away. Where do you hear ”us” using this lingo? For real- I’m curious to know. I hear these terms used by Omegas. But I’ve never heard any of my Bros tossing around terms like these..Not around here. I don’t even know what those terms really mean. I can take a stab and say Cat/Kat could be a member who didn’t pledge or who isn’t sharp?? You got me on the “owt” thing though – I have no clue. Why would anyone else use terms that are relevant to your or any other Org - terms that no one else really knows the meaning of? I have no clue, DON'T agree with it, and wish it weren’t so if it is true. The word “Bruh” is a common word used by Black Men period. I called my older biological brother that even before college..lol. So I wouldn’t say that if I see any Frat using the term “Bruh” it’s because they are trying to be a Que. Black men use that word in general in greeting one another, Greek or not. BUT, I have seen the contorted spelling of the word “Bruhz” and acknowledge that is ya’ll term and how you greet your fellow fraternity members. That is your thing – you got that. However, you can look at any Iceman post. I refer to my fellow Frat members as “Bros”. As we are given the distinction of “Brother” upon initiation, I call my fam “Bros” – short for brothers. But it’s all good to the kid – Personally, I like everybody having their own thing. Lines shouldn’t be crossed and no one should style-jock anybody else. Only in a perfect world though I guess…. Ehh, what can you do man?

1. Is it really that serious. 2. I will sometimes refer to the Kappas as "The Nupes"....and since the Omegas refer to themselves as "The Bruhz", I don't see how that's any different. 3. Owt and cat? *shrugs* I don't use them but I have heard the term used by young people. If you use a word enough, especially around non-members, then it wont matter what the internal meaning is because it will take on a meaning (or non-meaning) of it's own. First to use the term Bruhs? Really? Maybe the first to use it as a singular noun but as Leja stated, it's been used by black men for years. If you hear me saying I'm going to hang out with the bruhs...you can bet i'm talking about Alphas. Oh yeah, pay homage. You beat me to it but that's what I was getting at with this entire discussion. LOL!! So, if you must....you "borrowed" the idea of fraternities....we "borrowed" the term Bruhz. Fair? 1. Then tell yo folks to stop it...especially at OUR events. 2. Ive heard PLENTY a Kappa correct people HARD core about calliing them Nupes if you arent a Kappa. Hell, they dont even let some KAPPAS use the term. 3. As for letting other folk use the term....see? You gotta understand The Bruhz to understand but basically, yall walk into your own trap with that. 4. Calling another frat The Bruhz is like calling another man Delicious. 5. Youre missing the point...its not the TERM itself its how its used. 6. As for cat and owt, folks who arent Coleman (and some who are) sound really dumb using it...and probably dont even know why. 7. First? Yall just greedy as ish and wanna claim everything....when in fact....wait...* in comes Priss v 2.0. Out goes the old*....lol...

Ehh, what can you do man? UM....youre kidding with your first paragraph right? Scroll through the Greeklife threads....and I can start naming chapters and particular members if you like but I wont bc all in all I am cool with those people/chapters but that shyt is wack. As for the term Bro/bruh...get that got that...thats not what Im talking about. Maybe its hard to articulate because this is on a MB and we are writing versus speaking but Im talking about literally....in public, at an event, in general, referring the Ques as THE BRUHZ vs. saying Ques or Omegas. Ive even seen a frat host a stepshow and the flyer looked as such: Alpha AKA Kappa The Bruhz Delta etc etc REALLY?!?! ^^^ Ive had EVERY frat (except maybe the Sigmas) refer to me, personally, like IN MY FACE, as a Red or The Redz. I HATE when Ques do it so WTF would I want another frat to do it? People really just need to stay in their lanes.

1. Then tell yo folks to stop it...especially at OUR events. <<== will do 2. Ive heard PLENTY a Kappa correct people HARD core about calliing them Nupes if you arent a Kappa. Hell, they dont even let some KAPPAS use the term. <<== has NEVER been corrected by a Kappa but then again, wouldn't use NUPEs in my usual reference to the Kappas... 3. As for letting other folk use the term....see? You gotta understand The Bruhz to understand but basically, yall walk into your own trap with that. <== doesn't refer to Omegas as "The Bruhz" except maybe jokingly because.....well, it's funny. 4. Calling another frat The Bruhz is like calling another man Delicious. <<== If you say so... 5. Youre missing the point...its not the TERM itself its how its used. <<== gotcha. I don't refer to Omegas as The Bruhz but do refer to my Alpha brothers as Frat and/or the bruhs when I speak. 6. As for cat and owt, folks who arent Coleman (and some who are) sound really dumb using it...and probably dont even know why. <<== then again, use it enough around non-members and you don't control it anymore. See every single slang word in the hip-hop vernacular. See also: Nigga 7. First? Yall just greedy as ish and wanna claim everything....when in fact....wait...* in comes Priss v 2.0. I know Deltas who call themselves "Reds" so this goes back to the whole, "use a seemingly ambiguous term around the masses..." thing I was talking about. I usually just say, "The D's" if i'm not saying Deltas.
If another frat put that on a flyer then the Omegas probably wanted to be referred to as "The Bruhz".
Really, is it that serious?

Cam,
My program manager saved you. LOL. I was about Cry Havoc, and let slip the dogs of war but she had some "real work" for me to do so I was on time out. But Coleman took care of it anyway so it's all to the G.
Anyway I guess it's as serious as you make it. We all have stuff that makes us distinct and unique and yes I understand that there is cross-pollenation and what was once exclusive to one becomes common place. It won't be too long before other Frats refer to each other as Team and spray paint their boots. And I'm sure they'll go through the same gesticulations that we're doing now when they attempt to point out that Omega didn't invent the word Team, spray paint, or boots... and I guess that will prove that we don't own that either.
Anyway if you'd like to say we borrowed the Greek Letter Organization idea from you, I'll be happy to say that you borrowed the Black Fraternity Model from us, pledging, stepping, Pan-Hell, I mean let us know if you need anything else - but really that should cover you for the next 100 years or so until we come out with the next innovation.
See... I reached across the aisle. That's Bipartisanship my niccuh. LOL.
<--x not taking NONE of y'all serious <--x is trying to find a cook out to crash
In closing - Roo to the Ques, Be Owt to my Redz, and shout out to the whole Pan Hell.

It depends.. I didnt know until I got active with the Pan, but yes, in the "united" setting, we do call each other frater and soror... even if they are in a different org. I almost blew a gasket the first time and Iota called me Soror... then, a older soror explained it to me. Now outside of a meeting or official type NPHC event, then no, its not happening unless im joking with someone like brAKA or something close to me. Right this was the only time I have had a member from another org call me Soror. Outside of a NPHC meeting....nall...I don't think so.
