that's a big No Bueno. I ain't callin nobody line sister less'n they felt my heartbeat at some point. As a matter of fact, it's so near and dear a term to me that when one of 'em acts up, I stop calling her LS. Once, I confused a visiting soror because I referred to someone as my line sister, and she "corrected" me. She informed me that my deuce is not just my line sister, but my sandz. Where she's from, LS is for when you're online, sandz is for after. And apparently, someone can be one but not the other, such as an eternal (or someone who chose not to postpledge with you...yuck). I guess sorta like the diff b/w big sister and prophyte. M'eh. L, Huh?? Wild. My LB's are my LB's and thats it. That's how we address each other. We call our sands those cats who crossed the same semester at different schools or grad chapters. I've heard the term use to mainly refer to members of your own Org. But at some point, the term "sands" loosley came to encompass members of other orgs that crossed the same semester you did. There are a lot of regional differences though with the various terms and their meanings. I concur! I'm having dinner this evening with my ace and my tre and they are my LINE sisters, even though this December will make 10 years since we been on line. But that is what they are.

It depends.. I didnt know until I got active with the Pan, but yes, in the "united" setting, we do call each other frater and soror... even if they are in a different org. I almost blew a gasket the first time and Iota called me Soror... then, a older soror explained it to me. Now outside of a meeting or official type NPHC event, then no, its not happening unless im joking with someone like brAKA or something close to me. Yeah, I went to a NPHC event once and experienced this. I was confused at first.

Some say ship here depending on what part of the MW you are from. I always learned sands and that's just the people I crossed with. Does not include anybody else from that semester or whatever.
Soror is reserved for Deltas.

Yep...post pledging, even when you try to TRY AND UNDERSTAND it, it's hard because it's really stupid.
Believe me, I understand the arguments for "post-pledging" and I TOO still think it's absolutely stupid. *shrugs*

I've heard lot's of intra-fraternal terms and language. At the Pan-Hell meetings... folks were routinely called Soror and Frater. Me and my lb still laugh about that term to this day, and sometimes we call each other Frater jokingly.
I've heard folks from different Fraternities (on the old OO and in IRL) use the term Phi.
Like, "man what's up with your Phi, he ain't been around in a second" or, "aye man, go get your Phi, he's over there drunk and cutting up".
And of course Coleman got a language all our own...
I don't call any other org Bruh, but I'll call them brother (we're all mostly black). It's funny cause I also remember one time on here when the Bruhz and the Kappas almost got into it - and another Kappa came in and played the peacemaker... and was like, "hey y'all let's keep it peaceable... it's all 1911". :hunches shoulders: That would probably bother some Bruhz but it didn't bother me. I think Greeks in general speak their own language.
I mean how many times have we talked about somebody "building one" on here without referencing it, and Greeks (and some non-Greeks) knew what was meant

I first experienced this at Boule during our Centennial Walk. All the National Presidents, including ours, preferred to everyone as Sorors or Fraters. I'm fine with it at unity or NPHC events such as these if you are program and introducing someone from another org.

If I hear one more set owt use the term kat...yep, set owt. That's precisely what I said. If you got your own org why are you trying to sound like The Bruhz and THE Sorors? Get yo' own ish....yall dont see us trying to infiltrate yall ish...if we wanted....nope, Imma stop. <---in a pissy mood so im going to just walk away like Damie would want me to...imma just walk away....lol

{~~ doesn't get it.
Why would you want to use terms you don't understand? IDGAF what "owt" or "cat" or "set owt" or any of that other gold-bootin, camo-wearin stuff means. By the same token I wouldn't bother to use the phrases correctly or otherwise.
However, I do rebuke their perceived ownership of the term "bruh" Omega Psi Fraternity incorporated, as much as they would like to, cannot claim that they are the only and original reason why Black men shorten the word "brother" to address each other.

GTFOH.... *laughing my ass off!! Come on D, let a brotha have some fun.* We had the discussion. We didn't invent the word. Just the first to use it. Isn't that how you all suggest that all other D9 orgs pay you homage? I mean you didn't invent fraternities. Just the first ones to successfully do it on a college campus. But you still want credit for everyone else doing it. Why can't we do the same?
Bruhz™ Redz™ Owt™ Be Owt™ Be the F#ck Owt™ Set Owt™ Set Some $h!t Owt™ wreck™ wrecking™ Green™ Rufus™ Roo™ Roo Dog™ Roo Team™ Team™ CAT (and the many variations - LOL)™ Luke™ Betty™ 8™ 80™ Peace Bruh™
Those are the ones you could have (and likely have) at least heard in public setting - there's plenty more. I'm guessing everyone else has their own too... for example I call Kappas, Kappas. Nupe is THEIR term. And unless I'm on the phone with Leja clowning you won't hear me say GOMAB. So the question really is - why do other people appropriate the stuff that we use? It's not just Bruh - it's plenty of stuff.
Are we seriously going to argue this? For real? Are we really going to start the 4th of July weekend off like this? Come on y'all. Don't make me bring out the Imperial Quarter-Mitre Saw

But seriously....dont you think its a LITTLE homoish to refer to ANOTHER frat as THE Bruhz when youre in a frat or have a "bond" (quotes for ZPB/PBS) with another frat? THE BRUHZ signify (at least to me) that they are THE Bruhz all the others are irrelevant. The Ques are THE Bruhz...everyone else are just some bruhs. Get it? 1. Is it really that serious.
2. I will sometimes refer to the Kappas as "The Nupes"....and since the Omegas refer to themselves as "The Bruhz", I don't see how that's any different.
3. Owt and cat? *shrugs* I don't use them but I have heard the term used by young people. If you use a word enough, especially around non-members, then it wont matter what the internal meaning is because it will take on a meaning (or non-meaning) of it's own.
First to use the term Bruhs? Really? Maybe the first to use it as a singular noun but as Leja stated, it's been used by black men for years. If you hear me saying I'm going to hang out with the bruhs...you can bet i'm talking about Alphas.
Oh yeah, pay homage. You beat me to it but that's what I was getting at with this entire discussion. LOL!!
So, if you must....you "borrowed" the idea of fraternities....we "borrowed" the term Bruhz. Fair?
