IMO we aren't going to get many newbies. The board doesn't show up in google searches. So the only way someone will know about the board is to hear about it from a current member. And I think we should allow someone who is invited by a current member.

I dunno. I think it all depends on the purpose of OOA. Will it always be a fall out shelter? Will it replace the original OO even if it comes back up?
Then how many of us actually have new people we want to invite OO? Will there be a significant amount of new memebers through the approved access system?
These are the questions in my mind. I think we need new members as soon as we settle in--which we are pretty close to that.
New members make a board thrive. Yet it will be hard to get people in based on a referral system. And if we are trying to keep a culprit out how do we know if "it" doesn't have a co-conspirator who will eventually invite "it" in.

I think this board has replaced OO, even if OO comes up. I really don't see a reason to go back. So I agree that we should allow new members once we get "settled in." I also agree that we aren't far from being "settled in." So I voted 2 weeks just to allow time to get everyone from OO who has interest in being here.

I really don't want to go back I love this board .. simple and sweet.
As for new members I think we should vouch for people so that we don't have crazies in here ..which may have led to the destruction of the last board

I think 2 weeks sounds about right.
Yet can this board replace OO? If you don't have an influx of new members how does it gain popularity?
I love the board too. But that's because I love things that are safe--secure---and comfortable.LOL
The thing about the original OO is that it was crazy...dashing...drama filled. That's something you can not get in a closed community.
I FOR ONE DONT THINK WE NEED DRAMA...but others have suggested we do.

I don't miss the craziness and drama from OO...nor do I miss the new members, lol. I think I'm a loyalist. I'm enjoying this board as much as I ever enjoyed OO. But I do think a few new members every now and then would be good for the board.

I like the invite system too... otherwise how will you know if you banned someone they won't just apply two weeks later as someone else. I don't mind letting in new folks, but I also don't want to risk having the site come down again either.
