The Wall Street Journal
June 26, 2008
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting, the justices' first definitive pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history.
The court's 5-4 ruling strikes down the District of Columbia's 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the Second Amendment. The decision goes further than even the Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most firearms laws intact.
I think NYC is going to be next.

Yes they got this one right because why would you fight crime but banning handguns which will affect the public's right to defend themselves.
Like what criminal will have a registered fire arm?
They keep trying to strip the people of they right to defend themselves.
Just like BF said a people who give up freedom for security deserve neither.

Im VA born and bred...we are born with a double barrell! LOL... my dad tried to give me one of his guns when I moved and my mom was like, "Umm....that child, with her temper, does NOT need a gun." Momma knows best....but DC done F'd up now boy!!

Its been proven that places where the citizens are allowed to have guns have less crime. When everyone is packing folks are less likely to run up in houses or on people because they know they can get plugged. I like the ruling. Now if MD would just allow folks to have a carry license I'll be straight.

They still will have regulations and restrictions so tight that it will be hard to get a handgun.
My problem with handgun bans is that you cannot ban handguns in D.C. and not ban them in the surrounding areas! That's just fucking stupid. If there is to be a handgun ban, it must be a regional ban.
I'm from the dirty. Home of pick up trucks, whisky and shotgun rifles so I understand someone wanting to own a gun to protect themselves.
This is going to empower the NRA though. Y'all know they are fighting to make college campus' recognize handgun permits. Hmmm....

Jaine...the thing is criminals aren't getting guns the legal way so they don't count. If law abiding citizens had guns it would deter some of these yokels from being so bold. Most cats aren't crazy enough to run up in a house they think or know has guns in it because they don't want to get shot.
Out west where there are still towns that let you carry guns you don't have half the problems because people are on an even playing field. I know if I am carrying and someone else is carrying if they have sense they will think twice before trying to catch me slipping if they know I could be packing and legally.
you have to change your mindset. These laws aren't for criminals/lawbreakers...they don't follow or care about the law anyway so its null and void to them. This is for people like you and me who shouldn't be handcuffed from protecting ourselves or our families.

The knuckleheads who have them now have them illegally...and Im sure they arent going to decide to comport with the law now....lol The only people who are at risk are the law abiding citizens. If someone wants a gun, they'll get one but they may think twice if the know that Debbie Do-gooder may have one..it'll be more "A gun in ya face and thats allya can comeup wit!?"  ...man, I wish I was in VA where I could put it on the dashboard. I heard the area gun stores were FLOODED this weekend with DC residents trying to strap up...lol...the gun stores asked folks to wait 30 days to give DC an opportunity to decide which handguns will be legal.
Guess who'll be at the shop on July 27?

haha... speaking of biscuits... I'm bout to go to the gun range this month with my cousins/brother...sort of a nice, peaceful family moment at the gun range  lol. I'm in the market for a Safe with fingerprint detection, and a nice handgun... preferably 9mm. Any suggestions? I was thinking a Beretta, but who knows, maybe even a Desert Eagle  |

Um nah its a revolver but its easier to handle if you are a beginner. Roll with that until you get comfortable with it and then you can upgrade. LOL @ ratta tat tat.
