Uh, I don't blame her for not going. Hell, with the money she has she can hire a minister to preach a private service just for her and Jay-Z.

I can sort of see what she is saying. One its hard to enjoy service if you are a spectacle and number two she probably feels as if she is detracting from the worship service with her mere presence. I blame the pastor for not setting people straight about why they come to worship and not putting an end to the foolishness.

She's too famous to go to church, but not too famous to go to the klub?? The club and church are two very different places. Church is a place for folk to go and worship God, not Beyonce'. If they are approaching her during the service and taking pics and asking for autographs, then she is killing the purpose of church. They are missing the Word and so is she.

what a great excuse beyonce!
If she attended regularly, it probably wouldnt be an issue after a while...
Some churches have celebs attend regularly.
I'm sure that some churches could work out seating arrangements and exiting procedures for her....
All things are possible to him who makes excuses?

I've been at church with some known NBA players and they werent mobbed - but of course the pastor set the congregation straight..lol

That is my point GNG. I remember seeing them attend their church in houston but I'm thinking she isn't really living there like that. Everytime I look up they are in NY state which is a different animal. NBA players are one thing but just imagine Michael Jordan coming to church as opposed to a middle to the road to upper echelon player. Their is a difference. SAme thing if Michael Jackson showed up in most churches. It would be a mad house because folks lost themselves with certain stars. At the end of the day it takes the ministers and ushers to keep people from bugging out.

LOL @ MJackson.....
I keep forgetting that some people dont seem to understand celebrity is a title/status and they are still humans.
From what I have noticed though, New Yorkers arent star struck...my sister and I was at a store and saw Whitney Houston....another time my sis saw Iman walking her dog...
Its more the paparazzi than fans...
but i understand what you mean.....some people are weird...Celebs are just people.

Churches accomodate celebs all the time. Bey ain't the first celebrity, nor is she the last. If she can make it to the klub with all the freaks and weirdos (yes there are some crazy weird A-listers), then something can be worked out with a church.

I don't know...I'm not really trippin over this. I've had the experience of attending church with a celeb, and it was exactly as she says...despite the fact that its a church with a lot of high profile members. It bugged me out to see how many people were running over in the middle of service trying to get autographs and what not...and it wasn't just young kids. It's definitely a distraction from why everyone was supposed to be there.

Such a poor reason for not attending church. Beyonce can attend service and it would not create the spectacle that she thinks. Now, if this is her way of saying that she would like to stay in hiding then just say so.

Even if she is making up an excuse, if she doesn't want to go she doesn't have to. She doesn't need for anyone to approve of her decision or the reason she gave.

nobody HAS to go to church. its not our job to send people to hell for not going. so i say, do you. if you are too cool for church, don't go. that's between you and your God.

My issue is she talks as if she would like to go to church but can't because of fans. If she wants to go, stop making up excuses and make it happen. Churches are accomodating to celebrities. If she doesn't, so be it. *shrugs*

I guess we are used to it in California. Every week Denzel is in town he is seated in the 4th row center with his family. One particular Sunday, Whitney, Denzel, Angela Bassett, Judge Mathis, and Faith Evans were chillen at the same service of this particular church. They are all members and give regularly. Whether it's the mall, restaurants, or religious services we just don't go there with the star jocking. I just stopped attending because I took all of the attention away from them. It's my perogative.
